Step 1: Choose Camera Location
The mounting location must meet the following requirements:
a solid surface (to minimize vibration)
away from access panels, hatches, or doors which may block the camera view
away from heat sources
Cameras are usually installed with cabling running inside wall panels.
This guide applies to the HD3U01ANXX camera model series.
Routine Maintenance
Most liquid cleaners or grafti gel can be used to clean your camera enclosure. Do not use
abrasive cleaners that can scratch the window and reduce visibility of the camera.

Step 2: Choose Mounting Orientation
The HD3U can be mounted in two orientations: "ceiling mount" (bracket arms angled down from
the mounting surface), or "wall mount" (bracket arms angled up):
Ceiling Mount
Wall Mount
Mounting
Bracket
To select an orientation, consider the mounting surface and range of motion (camera tilt and
bracket wall pivot or ceiling pan) that provides the required eld of view (see Step 3, below). The
most common position will be ceiling mount, with the camera tilted downward (approximately
45 degrees below the horizon).

Overview

The HD3U Ultra-Wide Camera is a robust and versatile surveillance device designed for use in various environments, particularly those requiring a wide field of view and durable construction. It is part of the HD3U01ANXX camera model series and is engineered to provide high-definition video capture with a focus on ease of installation and reliable performance.

Function Description:

The primary function of the HD3U Ultra-Wide Camera is to capture high-definition video footage. It is designed to connect to a compatible digital video recorder via a specialized Analog High Definition (AHD) harness, ensuring optimal image quality during recording and playback. The camera features infrared LED lamps for low-light conditions, allowing it to capture clear images even in complete darkness (0 lux with IR LEDs on). Its wide field of view (H: 171, V: 88) makes it suitable for monitoring large areas, reducing the need for multiple cameras. The camera can be mounted in two orientations—ceiling mount or wall mount—to achieve the desired field of view and coverage. It also includes security screws to prevent tampering and ensure the camera remains in its set position.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Consumption: Max 4.2W (with IR on), indicating efficient power usage.
  • Operating Voltage Range: 9 to 14 VDC, powered directly by the recorder.
  • Operating Temperature Range: -4 to 122°F (-20 to 50°C), highlighting its suitability for a wide range of environmental conditions.
  • Field of View (FOV): H: 171, V: 88, providing an ultra-wide perspective.
  • Resolution: 1080p, delivering high-definition video quality.
  • Infrared LED Lamps: Equipped with 4 high-efficiency LEDs for night vision.
  • Minimum Illumination: B&W, IR LEDs on: 0 lux, ensuring visibility in total darkness.
  • Enclosure Size: Height: 2.1" (53.55 mm), Width: 2.7" (68.6 mm), Depth (with bracket): 2.5" (63.74 mm), indicating a compact design.
  • Enclosure Material: Die-cast aluminum (powder-coated), contributing to its durability and resistance to environmental factors.
  • Environmental Rating: IP67, signifying high protection against dust and water ingress, making it suitable for outdoor or harsh indoor environments.
  • Bracket Material: SUS304, a type of stainless steel known for its corrosion resistance.
  • Dome: Polycarbonate, offering robust protection for the lens.
  • Connector Cable Length: 12" (30 cm), providing some flexibility for connection.
  • Weight: 0.39 lbs (177 g), making it relatively lightweight for installation.

Usage Features:

The HD3U Ultra-Wide Camera is designed for straightforward installation and operation. The installation kit includes essential components such as a mounting bracket, self-drilling screws, a Torx T10 security key, and a drilling template, simplifying the setup process.

  • Harness Compatibility: It requires a special AHD harness with a blue band, ensuring proper signal transmission and preventing image degradation.
  • Mounting Flexibility: The camera supports both ceiling mount (bracket arms angled down) and wall mount (bracket arms angled up) orientations, allowing users to select the best position for their specific surveillance needs. The mounting bracket facilitates adjustment of the camera's tilt and pivot/pan position to achieve the required field of view.
  • Easy Aiming: After installation, the camera's tilt position can be set, and the four security screws tightened with the supplied Torx key to secure it. This process is typically done while connected to a recorder and monitor to ensure optimal alignment.
  • Visual Alignment Aid: The camera housing is stamped with "SEON" branding on both its top and bottom. This branding serves as a visual cue to ensure the camera is right-side-up during installation, preventing incorrect orientation.
  • Security Features: The use of security screws and a Torx key helps prevent unauthorized tampering with the camera's position and internal components.

Maintenance Features:

Routine maintenance for the HD3U Ultra-Wide Camera is minimal, focusing primarily on cleaning the enclosure to maintain optimal visibility.

  • Enclosure Cleaning: Most liquid cleaners or graffiti gel can be used to clean the camera enclosure. However, it is crucial to avoid abrasive cleaners, as these can scratch the window and reduce the camera's visibility.
  • Durability: The die-cast aluminum (powder-coated) enclosure, IP67 environmental rating, and polycarbonate dome contribute to the camera's overall durability and resistance to environmental wear and tear, reducing the need for frequent repairs or replacements.
  • Warranty: The manual explicitly states a warning against opening the camera housing, as doing so voids the warranty. This emphasizes the importance of professional service for any internal issues and encourages users to rely on the camera's robust design for longevity.

For service or technical support, users are directed to contact Seon via a toll-free number or email, providing the model and serial number to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number.
