What to do if SEW DC Drives display "StoP" and there is no enable?
C
Christopher MillerJul 27, 2025
If your SEW DC Drive displays "StoP" and there's no enable, verify that the hardware enable signal is present on binary input 1. Also, check the +10 V user output voltage between terminals 5 and 7 and inspect the wiring of the user terminal strip if the voltage is faulty. Ensure P-12 is correctly set for terminal mode or keypad mode. If keypad mode is active, press the key. Confirm that the line voltage matches the specified values.

Why am I getting an overload error during acceleration with SEW DC Drives?
J
jason74Aug 1, 2025
If your SEW DC Drive shows an overload or overcurrent error during acceleration of an unloaded motor, check the star/delta terminal connection in the motor. Ensure that the nominal operating voltage of the motor and inverter match. Using a delta connection will result in the lower voltage of a multi-voltage motor.

How to unlock parameters on SEW DC Drives when 'L' is displayed?
J
Jessica FullerAug 6, 2025
If you see "L" displayed before the value when trying to change parameters on your SEW DC Drive, it means the parameters are locked. To unlock them, set parameter P38 to 0. Also, some parameters cannot be changed while the motor is running, so ensure that the inverter is not enabled by checking binary input 1.

How to access advanced menus on SEW DC Drives?
N
Nancy MendezAug 11, 2025
If you cannot access the advanced menus on your SEW DC Drive, make sure that parameter P-14 is set to the advanced access code. The default advanced access code is "101", unless it has been changed by the user in parameter P-37.

If your SEW DC Drive indicates an overload or overcurrent and the motor does not turn, check for a blocked rotor. Also, ensure that the mechanical brake, if installed, is released.

Why SEW DC Drives inverter does not start in cold conditions?
S
Shannon RiggsAug 21, 2025
If your SEW DC Drive inverter doesn't start in extremely cold conditions (below –10 °C), it may be due to the low ambient temperature. Provide a heat source to keep the ambient temperature of the drive above 0 °C.
