What to do if my SGS PGH2200 Portable Generator will not start?
    • C
      Connor SimpsonAug 10, 2025
If your SGS Portable Generator won't start, there are several things you can check: * Ensure the fuel valve is in the 'down' position. * Verify the oil level is correct. * Confirm you are using 10W30 oil. * Make sure the choke is in the correct position. * Check for a spark by removing the HT lead from the spark plug, removing the spark plug, reconnecting the lead, and touching the metal on the spark plug against the generator frame. Gently pull the starter cord and listen for a 'ticking' sound or flashes from the spark plug tip. If there's no ticking or flashes, the spark plug may need replacing.

Why is my SGS PGH2200 difficult to start?
    • D
      Douglas GarciaAug 26, 2025
Your SGS Portable Generator might be hard to start due to a few reasons. A dirty air filter or fuel filter can cause this issue, so cleaning them might help. Also, if the pull start feels too hard, there might be too much oil; check the oil level with the dipstick and drain any excess from the oil sump bolt. If the pull start feels too slack, please contact SGS Engineering.
