Overview

This document describes the Shark DuoClean® Powered Lift-Away™ with Anti Hair Wrap Technology vacuum cleaner, outlining its assembly, various cleaning modes, and maintenance procedures.

Function Description

The Shark DuoClean® Powered Lift-Away™ is a versatile vacuum cleaner designed for comprehensive floor-to-ceiling cleaning. Its core function is to provide powerful suction and effective brushroll action across different floor types, including hard floors, carpets, and thick rugs. The "DuoClean" technology implies the presence of multiple brushrolls working in tandem to pick up various types of debris, from fine dust to larger particles, and to deep clean carpets. The "Anti Hair Wrap Technology" is a key feature that prevents hair from tangling around the brushroll, reducing the need for frequent manual removal and maintaining optimal cleaning performance.

The "Powered Lift-Away™" feature allows the user to detach the main pod from the wand and floor nozzle, transforming the upright vacuum into a portable canister-style vacuum. This enables easy cleaning of hard-to-reach areas, stairs, upholstery, and elevated surfaces without having to carry the entire unit. The "Powered" aspect indicates that the brushroll continues to operate even in Lift-Away mode when using the floor nozzle, providing consistent cleaning power.

Usage Features

The vacuum offers multiple modes of operation to adapt to various cleaning tasks:

  • Upright Mode: This is the standard mode for general floor cleaning. To operate, the user gently places a foot on the floor nozzle and tilts the handle back to recline the vacuum. A power button allows the user to select the appropriate floor type setting (Hard Floor, Carpet/Low Pile, or Thick Carpet/Area Rug).

    • Hard Floor Setting: Provides gentle cleaning suitable for hard floors.
    • Carpet/Low Pile Setting: Optimises brushroll speed and suction for effective cleaning of carpets.
    • Thick Carpet/Area Rug Setting: Further optimises brushroll speed and suction for deep cleaning of thick carpets and area rugs.
  • Powered Lift-Away™ Mode: This mode is activated by pressing the "Lift-Away Release" button, which detaches the main pod from the wand. In this configuration, the user can carry the pod while using the wand and floor nozzle to clean under furniture, in tight spaces, or on stairs, maintaining the powered brushroll action.

  • Above-Floor Cleaning in Lift-Away® Mode: For cleaning above-floor surfaces, the user can detach either the wand (by pressing the "Wand Release" button) or the handle (by pressing the "Handle Release" button) from the pod. Various cleaning accessories, such as the Duster Crevice Tool, Upholstery Tool, or Pet Power Brush (if included), can then be attached to the end of the wand or handle. The manual recommends using the "Hard Floor Setting" for all above-floor accessories to ensure best performance.

Assembly:

The vacuum requires simple assembly:

  1. Insert the wand into the floor nozzle until it clicks.
  2. Insert the handle into the top of the wand until it clicks.
  3. Place the vacuum pod onto the wand, sliding it down until it connects securely.
  4. Press the hose into the back of the pod until it clicks into place.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the vacuum. The manual highlights several key maintenance tasks:

  • Emptying the Dust Cup: After each use, the dust cup should be emptied to maintain strong suction. The exact procedure for emptying is not detailed in this excerpt but is implied to be a quick and easy process.

  • Filter Washing: To ensure strong suction, filters should be washed regularly. After washing, filters must be allowed to air-dry completely before being reinserted into the vacuum. The manual also suggests tapping loose dirt from foam filters between washes as needed. More detailed instructions for removing and cleaning filters are provided in the enclosed full instruction booklet.

  • Brushroll Maintenance: The brushroll should be regularly checked for any debris that may be impeding its rotation. Users are instructed to carefully remove any such obstructions. The "Anti Hair Wrap Technology" aims to minimise this task, but occasional checks are still recommended.

  • Soft Roller Maintenance: The Soft Roller, located in the floor nozzle, can be lifted out by pulling a tab on the right side. Any accumulated debris should be cleared away, and then the Soft Roller should be slid back into its place.

  • Checking the Nozzle for Blockages: If suction is reduced or the brushroll indicator light is not green (or headlights are flashing), a blockage in the nozzle may be present. To check, the user should tilt the neck of the nozzle back to straighten the airway and then remove any blockages. The manual also suggests using a coin to unlock three locks on the bottom of the floor nozzle, allowing access to the brushroll and airway for inspection and clearing of obstructions. After clearing, the base should be reassembled, ensuring both sides of the lid are locked in place.

The manual emphasizes that the top flap of the product box indicates which specific accessories are included with the purchased model. For comprehensive instructions and information on additional parts and accessories, users are directed to consult the enclosed instruction booklet or visit the manufacturer's website.
