Do you have a question about the Sharp EC-C1819-R and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document serves as the operation manual for the SHARP EC-C1819-R and EC-C2219-N vacuum cleaners, providing comprehensive instructions for safe and effective use, as well as maintenance procedures.

Function Description

The SHARP vacuum cleaner is designed for household use, primarily for cleaning floors and various surfaces by suctioning dust and debris. It operates by drawing air and particles through a hose and into a dust cup, where the debris is collected, and filtered air is expelled. The device is equipped with a motor protection system to maximize its lifespan by preventing overheating due to blockages or clogged filters.

Usage Features

The vacuum cleaner offers a range of features to facilitate efficient cleaning:

  • Assembly and Connection: Before operation, the hose connector is inserted into the inlet hole of the vacuum cleaner. To remove, a release button is pressed, and the hose is pulled out. The telescopic tube connects to the curved end of the hose, allowing for adjustable reach.
  • Floor Nozzle: A dedicated floor brush is provided for cleaning, which can be adjusted for use on either carpet or hard floors, ensuring optimal cleaning performance across different surfaces.
  • Power Control: The machine is turned on by inserting the plug into a power socket and pressing the on/off button. The vacuum power can be adjusted using a speed control button, allowing users to tailor suction strength to the cleaning task at hand.
  • Maneuverability: The vacuum cleaner is designed with a handle on the top for easy movement and guidance during cleaning.
  • Cord Management: The device features a cord rewinding function. Users hold the plug, pull out the cord to the desired length (up to approximately 5.3m, marked by a yellow limit), and then press the cord rewind button to retract it. If the cord does not fully retract, it is advised to pull it out by 1 to 2 meters and attempt rewinding again.
  • Accessory Tools:
    • Dusting Brush: Ideal for whisking off dust from fabrics such as curtains, blinds, and sofas.
    • Crevice Tool: Designed for cleaning narrow gaps and difficult-to-reach corners.
    • Turbo Mattress Head (Only for EC-C2219-N): This specialized tool is for deep cleaning carpets, sofas, and mattresses, aiming to exterminate dust mites and harmful allergens.
    • Multifunctional Hardfloor Brush (Only for EC-C2219-N): Specifically for wooden floor cleaning, featuring anti-scratch and anti-static bristles to prevent damage to delicate surfaces.
    • Ergonomic Handle (Only for EC-C2219-N): Provides a comfortable grip for extended use.
  • Air Flow Regulator: An air flow regulator is included to reduce air flow as needed when using various tools, offering greater control over suction intensity.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several safety warnings, including not using the appliance outdoors or on wet surfaces, not leaving it unattended when plugged in, and ensuring children are supervised. It also warns against operating the vacuum cleaner with a damaged cord or plug, or if it's not working properly. Users are instructed not to pull or carry the cleaner by the power cord, or to run the cleaner over the cord. It is crucial to keep air openings free of dust, lint, hair, or similar materials to prevent blockages. The device should not be used to pick up lit cigarettes, hot ashes, sharp objects, or liquids.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the vacuum cleaner:

  • Unplugging for Maintenance: Before any maintenance, the vacuum cleaner must be unplugged from the electrical outlet.
  • Emptying the Dust Cup:
    1. The dust cup is removed from the unit.
    2. Hold the handle and press the dust cup release button.
    3. Hold the dust cup over a rubbish bin and press the dust dispose button to release collected dust. After emptying, the bottom lid should be closed firmly until a click sound is heard.
  • Cleaning Accessories:
    • Floor Nozzle / Multifunctional Hardfloor Brush: Dust can be removed from these brushes using a separate brush.
    • Turbo Mattress Head: To clean, turn left to loosen the ring to unlock, then open the top cover. The rotation part inside is taken out and cleaned with a brush, then reinstalled, and the top cover is tightened back with the ring.
  • Filter Maintenance:
    • Outlet Filter (HEPA Filter): The outlet lock is pressed to open the outlet filter cover. The HEPA filter is then removed, washed, and reinstalled only after it is completely dry.
    • Inlet Filter and Dust Cup (MIF Filter and Cyclone Unit): The dust cup lid is opened, and the MIF filter and cyclone unit are taken out. These components should be washed with water only (no detergent) and reinstalled after they are completely dry.
  • General Maintenance Tips:
    • Before cleaning under low furniture, check for objects that might harm the unit or block the hose.
    • Regularly check the hose and tools for obstructions like hair, string, and small objects.
    • Dispose of dust frequently to maintain high suction power and extend motor life.
    • Avoid bending, pulling, or stepping on the hose, or placing heavy objects on it.
    • Ensure all washable filters (HEPA, MIF, cyclone, and dust cup) are completely dry before re-installation to prevent damage to the cleaner.
    • The dust cup must be installed onto the main body securely, indicated by a clicking sound.
  • Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting chart is provided to address common issues such as the cleaner not working or reduced suction performance. Solutions include checking the power connection, clearing clogs in the hose or nozzle, emptying the dust cup, and cleaning blocked filters.
  • Motor Protection System: The vacuum cleaner has a motor protection system that shuts off the device if it overheats due to blockages or clogged filters. If this occurs, users should turn off and unplug the cleaner, empty the dust cup, clean the inlet filter, and wait approximately 1 hour for the motor to cool before resuming use. Operating with clogged or dirty filters can lead to overheating.

The manual strongly advises against using a broken dust cup or operating the vacuum cleaner without the dust cup to prevent motor damage. If problems persist after troubleshooting, users are instructed to seek service from a SHARP Authorized Servicer.
