This document is a user manual for the SHARP ES-HFB0143WD-EN Washing Machine, a home appliance designed for domestic use.
Function Description
The SHARP ES-HFB0143WD-EN is a washing machine that offers various programs and functions to clean different types of laundry. It features a program dial for selecting wash cycles, an electronic display for monitoring settings and progress, and a detergent drawer with compartments for main wash detergent, softener, and pre-wash detergent. The machine is equipped with a half-load detection system that automatically adjusts the program duration, water, and energy consumption when less than half the maximum load is detected. Additional functions like temperature adjustment, spin speed selection, delay timer, anti-allergic rinse, easy ironing, pre-wash, and extra rinse are available to customize the wash cycle. A child lock function prevents unintentional changes to the selected program. The machine indicates program completion with an "END" message on the display and also shows fault codes if issues occur.

The machine requires a 220-240V, 50Hz mains supply and should be connected to an earthed socket of 10 amps. Water inlet connections should be made using the supplied new water inlet hose, with a water flow pressure of 0.1-1 Mpa for optimum efficiency. If a hot water inlet connection is used, the temperature should not exceed 70°C. The water drain hose must be installed at a maximum height of 100 cm from the ground.
Usage Features
The washing machine offers a range of programs tailored for different fabric types and soil levels:
- Cotton (90°C, 60°C, 20°C, Pre-Wash 60°C): For very dirty to less dirty cotton and flax textiles, including underwear, linen, tablecloths, towels, and bedclothes.
- Eco 40-60: For normally soiled cotton laundry washable at 40°C or 60°C, designed for EU ecodesign legislation compliance.
- Wool (30°C): For woollen laundries with machine wash labels.
- Rinse: Provides an additional rinse cycle.
- Allergy Safe (60°C): For baby laundry, includes additional hot water rinses.
- Spin: Provides an additional spin cycle.
- Hand Wash/Delicate (30°C): For hand wash or sensitive laundry.
- Easy Care/Sports Wear (40°C): For very dirty or synthetic-mixed textiles like nylon socks, shirts, blouses, and trousers.
- Duvet (40°C): For fibre duvets with a machine washable label (max. 2.5 kg).
- Blouses / Shirts (60°C): For dirty cotton, synthetic, and synthetic-mixed shirts and blouses.
- Fast 60' (60°C): For dirty cotton, coloured, and linen textiles washed at 60°C in 60 minutes (automatically 30 minutes for 2 kg or less laundry).
- Rapid 15' (30°C): For lightly soiled, cotton, colored, and linen textiles.
Users can adjust the washing water temperature and spin speed. The delay timer allows users to postpone the start of a program. The anti-allergic function adds an extra rinse with hot water, suitable for delicate skin or baby clothes. The easy ironing function reduces wrinkles. Pre-wash is recommended for heavily soiled laundry, and extra rinse adds an additional rinse at the end of the program. The rapid wash function shortens the wash time, recommended for loads less than half the maximum dry load.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the machine's longevity and performance:
- General Cleaning: Turn off mains power and water supply before cleaning. Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, glass cleaners, or all-purpose cleaning agents on plastic surfaces.
- Water Inlet Filters: Clean every 2 months or when the machine struggles to receive water. Unscrew hoses, remove filters from the water inlet valve and hose end using long-nosed pliers, clean with a soft brush and soapy water, then re-insert.
- Pump Filter: Clean every 2 months. The filter is behind a cover on the front-lower right corner. Use the washing powder spade or liquid detergent level plate to open the cover. Place a container to collect water, then loosen and remove the filter by turning anticlockwise. Remove foreign materials with a soft brush, re-fit, and turn clockwise.
- Detergent Drawer: Remove and clean every 2 months to prevent residue build-up. Pull the drawer forward, press down, and pull it from its housing. Clean with water and a soft brush. Do not wash in a dishwasher.
- Drum: Do not leave metallic objects in the drum to prevent rust stains. Use a non-chlorine cleaning agent for rust stains, following manufacturer instructions. Do not use wire wool or hard objects.
- Periodic Cleaning: Use a Drum Clean program or Cottons-90 program every 2 months. Use limescale removers specifically for washing machines when required.
The manual also emphasizes the importance of removing transit bolts before first use to prevent damage and voiding the warranty. It advises against forcing the door open while the machine is running and recommends contacting an authorized service agent for installation and repairs.
