Function Description

The SHARP Refrigerator-Freezer is designed for household use, specifically for making ice cubes, refrigerating, and freezing food products. It features a two-door design with a freezer compartment at the top and a refrigerator compartment at the bottom.

Key components and their functions include:

Freezer Light: Illuminates the freezer compartment.
Freezer Shelf: Provides storage space within the freezer.
Ice Cube Maker: Allows for the production of ice cubes. Users can turn a lever clockwise to dispense ice into the ice cube box.
Ice Cube Box: Collects and stores ice cubes.
Fresh Case & Door: A dedicated compartment for fresh produce.
Control Panel: Located on the exterior (SJ-XP59PG) or interior (SJ-XE55PM, SJ-XE59PM) for temperature control and mode selection.
Deodorizing Unit: A catalyst installed in the cold air routes to neutralize odors, requiring no operation or cleaning.

Temperature Control:
- Freezer compartment: Adjustable from -13°C to -21°C in 1°C steps. Advanced setting allows 0.5°C steps.
- Refrigerator compartment: Adjustable from 0°C to 6°C in 1°C steps. Advanced setting allows 0.5°C steps.
Minimum Installation Space:
- Rear: 60mm or more (but less than 75mm).
- Sides: 60mm or more.
- Top: 90mm or more.

Usage Features

Temperature Control: Users can check and adjust the temperature for both the freezer and refrigerator compartments via the control panel. Basic adjustments are in 1°C increments, while advanced settings allow for 0.5°C increments.
Useful Modes:
- Extra Cool: Cools beverages or foods to an ice-cold state (approx. 6 hours operation).
- Express Freezing: Speeds up the freezing process for food (approx. 2 hours operation).
- Express Cool: Quickly cools beverages or foods (approx. 30 minutes operation). This mode triggers an alarm when complete, reminding users to remove items to prevent freezing.
- Plasmacluster Ionizer: Releases ion clusters into the refrigerator compartment to inactivate airborne mold fungus, keeping the interior clean. This feature operates automatically when the refrigerator is powered on.
- Energy Saving Mode (SJ-XP59PG only): Increases the internal temperature of both compartments slightly (approx. +1°C for freezer, +2°C for refrigerator when default settings are -18°C and 3°C respectively) to reduce energy consumption.
Door Alarm: Sounds if the refrigerator door is left open for more than 1 minute, with continuous alarms after 3 minutes. The alarm stops when the door is closed. A temporary stop function for the door alarm is available.
Button Operation Sound: Can be switched off.
Food Storage Recommendations:
- Fruits and vegetables should be loosely enclosed in plastic to minimize moisture loss.
- Dairy products and eggs should be stored according to their best-before dates and in designated holders.
- Meats, fish, and poultry should be placed on a plate or dish, covered, and larger cuts placed at the rear of shelves. Cooked food must be securely wrapped.
- For best freezing, foods should be fresh, frozen in small quantities, properly sealed, evenly distributed, and labeled.
Dew/Frost Prevention: Keep doors securely closed, ensure food does not obstruct door closure, and store high-moisture foods in airtight containers.
Air Circulation: Arrange food evenly on shelves and avoid blocking air outlets/inlets to ensure efficient cooling. Hot foods should be cooled before storing.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:
- Internal Parts: Remove shelves and other accessories, wash with warm soapy water, rinse with clean water, and dry. The fruit and vegetable shelf is not removable.
- Interior: Wipe with a cloth soaked in warm soapy water, then wipe thoroughly with cold water.
- Exterior: Wipe with a soft cloth when dirty.
- Magnetic Door Seal: Clean with a toothbrush and warm soapy water.
- Control Panel: Wipe with a dry cloth.
- Important Note: Avoid direct water splashing, strong cleansers, solvents, lacquer, paint, polishing powder, benzine, or boiled water, as these can cause damage, rusting, or insulation deterioration.
Defrosting: The refrigerator features an automatic defrosting system, which is energy-saving.
Light Replacement: If the compartment light blows, contact a SHARP-approved service agent for replacement by qualified service personnel.
Before Transporting: Wipe up water in the evaporating pan after unplugging the unit and waiting at least one hour for the refrigeration cycle equipment to cool down.
Switching Off: For extended periods of non-use, remove all food, clean the interior thoroughly, unplug the unit, and leave all doors open.
Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for common issues such as external heat, refrigerator noise (gurgling, cracking, etc.), frost/dew formation, and food freezing in the refrigerator compartment, offering solutions before contacting service.
Disposal: When disposing of the refrigerator, ensure it is safe for children (e.g., remove magnetic door seals) and deliver it to a professional recycling plant for flammable refrigerants and insulation blowing gases.
