This document is an owner's manual for the Shinco Portable Air Conditioner, Model No. SPF1-10C. It provides comprehensive information on the device's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description:
The Shinco SPF1-10C is a portable air conditioner designed to cool indoor spaces. It offers three primary operating modes: cool, fan, and dry (dehumidification). In cooling mode, it provides full air conditioning with temperature settings. The fan mode operates without temperature settings, circulating air. The dry mode combines fan operation with dehumidification, collecting water internally which needs to be drained. The unit is equipped with an automatic water vaporization system, where condensing water circulates to enhance cooling efficiency and conserve energy. It features an integrated circuit breaker for electrical safety, which should be tested periodically. The air conditioner is designed for use with a window installation kit to vent exhaust air outside.

Usage Features:
The air conditioner is controlled via a control panel on the unit and a remote control.
- Control Panel Components: Carrying Handle, Control Panel, Adjustable Front Grille, Casters, Exhaust Output, Air Intake, Moisture Drain Plug.
- Remote Control Components: Power button, Mode button (Cool, Fan, Dry), Temperature buttons (increase/decrease), Speed button (High, Mid, Low fan speeds), Timer button, Temperature mode button (°C/°F), Swing button.
- Power Button: Turns the unit on and off.
- Mode Button: Cycles through Cool, Fan, and Dry modes. In Dry mode, "FL" appears on the display when the water tank is full, requiring drainage. The unit operates at low fan speed and maintains 62°F in Dry mode.
- Temperature Buttons: Adjust the set temperature. Pressing them simultaneously switches between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
- Speed Button: Selects between high, middle, and low fan speeds.
- Timer Button: Sets the unit to turn off after 1-24 hours when the unit is on, or to turn on after 1-24 hours when the unit is off.
- Time/Temperature Display: Shows the set temperature or the set time during timer function.
- Remote Control Sensor: Receives signals from the remote control.
- Temperature Mode Button (Remote): Switches between Fahrenheit and Celsius on the display.
- Swing Button: In cooling mode, activates the blade to swing up and down, changing wind direction.
- Installation: Requires placing the unit on a flat, dry area near a window, maintaining a 20-inch (50 cm) space around it for optimal air circulation. The exhaust hose connects to the unit and a window sealing plate, which is adjustable to fit various window sizes. The exhaust duct is specifically designed for this air conditioner; replacing or lengthening it can cause damage.
- Battery Installation: The remote control uses two AAA batteries, which must be oriented correctly.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity.
- Draining the Water Tank: The unit has an automatic water vaporization system. However, in dry mode or if the tank becomes full, "FL" will display, indicating the need to drain the water. To drain, turn off the unit, remove the drain plug from the back, empty the tank, and replace the plug.
- Cleaning the Unit:
- Always unplug the unit before cleaning to avoid electric shock.
- Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using chemical agents like benzene, alcohol, gasoline, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the unit and void the warranty.
- Prevent water or other liquids from entering the unit.
- Dust Filter Maintenance: The dust filter, located at the back of the unit, should be removed and washed every two weeks. Neglecting to clean it can impair performance.
- Seasonal Cleaning (Long-term Storage):
- Drain any remaining water from the tank.
- Run the unit in fan mode for two hours to dry any internal moisture.
- Turn off and unplug the unit.
- Wash and replace the dust filter.
- Disassemble the exhaust duct.
- Cover the unit and exhaust duct components to protect them from dust.
- The unit must be properly grounded. Do not cut or remove the grounding plug.
- If a properly grounded AC outlet is unavailable, consult a qualified electrician.
- Do not alter or modify the plug or cord. If damaged, it should be replaced by a qualified service technician.
- Do not use an extension cord.
- The integrated circuit breaker should be tested before each use by pressing the TEST button (which should cause the RESET button to pop up) and then the RESET button for use. If the test fails, do not use the device.
- Always store and transport the unit upright to prevent damage to the compressor. If there's doubt, wait at least 24 hours before starting the unit.
- Do not block ventilation openings.
- Keep away from heat sources.
- Unplug during lightning storms or long periods of disuse.
- Ensure AC power matches voltage requirements.
- Do not handle the plug with wet hands.
- Unplug by holding the plug, not pulling the cord.
- Do not turn the unit on or off by plugging/unplugging the power cord.
- Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- Avoid exposing the unit to rain, moisture, dripping, or splashing.
- Batteries for the remote control should not be exposed to excessive heat.
- Danger of explosion if batteries are incorrectly replaced; use only the same or equivalent type.
