Why Shindaiwa BP45 engine does not start?
- JJames PooleAug 11, 2025
There are several reasons why your Shindaiwa Brush Cutter engine might fail to start: * The ignition switch may be in the “O” (OFF) position. If so, move it to the “I” (ON) position. * The spark plug could be fouled, improperly gapped, damaged, or of the wrong size. Try cleaning and regapping it to 0.6 ~ 0.7 mm, or replace it with a NGK BMR6A or equivalent. * The fuel might be incorrect, stale, or contaminated. Refill with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline, mixed with Shindaiwa Premium 2-cycle mixing oil at a 50:1 ratio. * The fuel filter and/or vent may be clogged, requiring replacement. * If the plug is wet, excess fuel may be in the cylinder. Crank the engine with the plug removed, reinstall the plug, and restart.
