How to start a Shindaiwa Brush Cutter when the engine does not start?
    • T
      Tabitha WaltersAug 2, 2025
If your Shindaiwa Brush Cutter engine doesn't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the ignition switch is in the 'I' (ON) position. Check the spark plug; if it's loose, tighten it. If the plug is fouled or improperly gapped, clean and gap it to 0.024 inch (0.6mm). If damaged, replace it with a NGK BMR6A. Also, make sure you're using fresh fuel of the correct mixture (gasoline and Shindaiwa 2-cycle Mixing Oil, at a 50:1 ratio). Clean or replace a clogged fuel filter and/or vent. If there's excess fuel in the cylinder, crank the engine with the plug removed, replace the plug, and restart.

Why does my Shindaiwa Brush Cutter have low power output?

Several factors can cause low power output in your Shindaiwa Brush Cutter. Check the air cleaner for clogs and service it if necessary. Ensure you're using the correct fuel mixture (gasoline and Shindaiwa 2-cycle Mixing Oil at a 50:1 ratio). Replace the fuel if there's water in it. Tighten or replace a loose or damaged spark plug, using a NGK BMR6A if replacement is needed. Also, make sure the operator isn't overworking the machine by shortening the trimmer line and cutting at a slower rate. Repair or replace the fuel filter and/or fuel line if there's air leakage or a clog. Check fuel octane rating and check for presence of Refuel as necessary if there is an overheating condition.
