Overview

This document describes the Siemens Built-in Gas Hob, models ER3A6AD70 and ER3A6BD70, providing comprehensive information on its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Siemens Built-in Gas Hob is designed for cooking purposes in private households and domestic environments, up to an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. It features gas burners with automatic ignition and a safety system (thermocouple) that interrupts gas flow if the flame accidentally goes out. The hob allows for precise control of flame height through control knobs, offering various power levels for different cooking needs. The ER3A6BD70 model includes a dual-wok multi-crown burner, which allows independent regulation of inner and outer flames for enhanced cooking flexibility. The appliance also incorporates a two-stage residual heat indicator for each burner, enhancing safety by warning users when parts are hot.

Important Technical Specifications:

The hob features different types of burners with varying power outputs and recommended cookware base diameters:

  • Standard-output burner: 1.90 kW, suitable for cookware with a base diameter of 12-22 cm.
  • High-output burner: 2.80 kW, suitable for cookware with a base diameter of 20-26 cm.
  • Dual-wok multi-crown burner: 5.80 / 6.10 kW, specifically designed for cookware with a rounded base, with a recommended diameter of 22-30 cm. This burner requires the use of an additional wok grid.

The control knobs allow setting power levels from 1 (lowest) to 9 (highest), with specific indications for electric ignition, power levels, switched-off burners, and residual heat (H for very hot, h for hot). The appliance's electrical operation is protected by a circuit breaker.

Usage Features:

  • Ignition: Burners are ignited by pressing and turning the control knob anti-clockwise to the highest level (9), holding it for a few seconds until the flame ignites and the safety system is activated. Manual ignition with a lighter is possible during a power cut.
  • Flame Control: Flame height is adjusted incrementally using the control knobs. The dual-wok burner offers independent control for inner and outer flames.
  • Cookware: Only cookware with a suitable, thick, flat base should be used. Cookware should be centered on the burner and not protrude over the hob's edge. Small cookware should not be used on large burners, and flames should not touch the sides of the cookware. For the multi-crown burner, only rounded-base cookware with the additional wok grid is recommended.
  • Cooking Settings: Recommended power levels are provided for various cooking tasks, from bringing water to a boil (level 9) and deep-fat frying (levels 7-9) to simmering (levels 4-6) and melting (level 1).
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Ensure adequate ventilation in the kitchen, especially during intensive or prolonged use, to manage heat, moisture, and combustion products.
    • Never leave hot fat or oil unattended due to fire risk.
    • Do not place flammable objects on or near the hob.
    • Avoid using hob covers.
    • Do not operate burners without cookware.
    • Keep children away from the appliance during operation and cleaning.
    • Do not use hob protective grilles.
    • Do not heat empty cookware.
    • In case of a gas smell or fault, immediately shut off the gas supply, extinguish flames, avoid operating electrical switches, ventilate the room, and call customer service or the gas supplier.
    • Always use liquefied gas bottles in an upright position.
    • If a burner does not ignite within 10 seconds, turn off the control, ventilate, and wait at least one minute before re-attempting.
    • Do not touch ignition plugs while the burner is being lit.
    • If a control knob is too stiff or loose, contact after-sales service.
    • Do not use the appliance if the glass surface is cracked or broken.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Cleaning: Allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning. Use a sponge and soapy water, then dry with a soft cloth. Remove spilled liquids immediately to prevent food from sticking. Do not remove control knobs during cleaning to prevent humidity ingress. Do not use harsh, abrasive detergents, steel wool, knives, or steam/high-pressure cleaners.
  • Burner Cleaning: After each use, clean burner parts with a non-metallic brush and soapy water. Ensure parts are completely dry before re-inserting to prevent enamel damage. Do not clean burner parts in a dishwasher. Ensure burner caps are correctly positioned on the flame spreader. Keep burner holes and grooves clean for correct flame.
  • Pan Support Cleaning: Allow pan supports to cool, then remove and clean with a non-metallic brush and soapy water. Pay attention to rubber pads. Pan supports can also be cleaned in a dishwasher using recommended detergents. Ensure they are completely dry and correctly inserted before use.
  • Ignition Plug Maintenance: Regularly clean ignition plugs with a small, non-metallic brush, taking care to avoid heavy knocks.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as electrical operation impairment, ignition problems, uneven flame, gas supply issues, and error messages (F3-F8, FS). For complex issues or repairs, contact trained specialist staff or Customer Service. Only genuine spare parts should be used for repairs.
