Answering machine
operation
You can operate the answering machine
built into the base with the handset, your
base's keypad (page 2) or remotely
(another telephone/mobile phone).
Operating the answering
machine with the handset
If you receive a prompt or message while
operating the answering machine, the
handset's loudspeaker will activate auto-
matically. Switch the loudspeaker off
with the handsfree button d.

When the answering machine is activated
the remaining memory time is
announced. Icon ± appears in the display.
Button ö lights up on the base.
The telephone is supplied with a pre-
recorded announcement. This pre-
recorded announcement is used if no per-
sonal announcement is available.
The answering machine deactivates auto-
matically when the memory is full. It acti-
vates again automatically when you
delete old messages.
Recording your own announcement
§Menu§ ¢ Voice Mail ¢ Announcements
¢ Record Announcement
§OK§ Press the control key to start
recording.
You hear the ready tone (a short tone).
¤ Now speak your announcement
(not less then 3 sec. long).
Cancel recording with a or
§Back§.
Press
§OK§ to start recording again.
§OK§ Press the control key to end
the recording.
After recording, the announcement is
played back for you to check.
Please note:
u Recording ends automatically when
the max. recording time of 170 sec-
onds is reached or if there is a break in
speaking of more than 2 seconds.
u If you cancel a recording the pre-
recorded announcement will be used
again.
u Recording is cancelled if the answering
machine's memory is full.
¤ Delete old messages and record your
announcement again if required.

a Press and hold (idle status).
You will hear the pre-recorded announce-
ment if you have not recorded one of your
own.
Deleting announcements

¢ Delete Announcement
§OK§ Press the control key to con-
firm the prompt.
a Press and hold (idle status).
The pre-recorded announcement is used
again after a personal announcement is
deleted.
