  If the SILENT KNIGHT Smoke Alarm panel shows a “GROUND FAULT” message, isolate the problematic wiring by disconnecting connections one by one, waiting at least five seconds between each removal, until the fault clears. Note: A ground fault message will also appear if a computer is connected to the panel via a serial cable. This is normal for on-site communication and can be ignored; the message will disappear when the computer is disconnected.

  If SILENT KNIGHT Smoke Alarm SLC devices are not being recognized (“Missing” message appears), check the following: * Verify hardware connections and ensure correct wiring (positive side of the device to terminal 34, negative side to terminal 33 for the main panel; SLC devices connect to the SLC loop via the SLC OUT terminals). * Confirm SLC devices are properly addressed as per Section 5. For contact monitor modules using dipswitches, set the correct address before applying power to the SLC loop to avoid incorrect addressing. * Ensure correct polarity is observed for SLC device wiring. Refer to Section 5.

  If a physically connected 5496 module is not recognized by the SILENT KNIGHT Smoke Alarm panel: * Check the 5496 green LED status. If it flashes at .5 sec on / .5 sec off, the 5496 likely needs to be added to the system through programming (JumpStart or manual addition, see Sections 4.9 and 4.9.1). * Verify the correct ID for the 5496 module is set via dipswitches (ID#1 for the first 5496, ID#2 for the second). * Measure the voltage from 5496 Terminal (+) to Terminal (-); it should be 27.2-27.4V with AC power present. If the green LED isn't flashing, incorrect wiring between the 5496 and the panel is the likely cause (see Section 4.4 for wiring details).
