4.5.1.7 PRESSURE SENSOR CALIBRATION
Here is where you set the offset of the pressure sensor. The pressure sensor in the Multi-Navigator
TM
is very
accurate and can detect pressure changes down to 0.1 hPa (height differences less than 1 metre). The displayed
resolution is 1 metre. Since the sensor might have a small offset from the true barometric value there can be a
need to set the offset to get the most accurate barometer readings. To do this you need to compare the current
barometric value with another, very accurate, barometers current value. If you find that they differ, you adjust the
pressure sensor offset up or down until they show the same values. Note! Do not calibrate the pressure sensor
unless you are absolutely sure that the reference barometric value is correct!
4.5.1.8 SHOW XTE (Cross Track Error)
Here is where you select the Cross Track Error when in the GPS navigation function. Available alternatives are YES
and NO. Cross Track Error is the distance to one side, at right angles to the intended direction of travel. (FIG.037)
Cross Track Error can be useful when you want to travel in a certain direction and stay on course without deviating
from it. This can be good for example, when walking on a course through detailed or wild terrain and you need to
travel in a straight line for safety sake
If you want to see the Cross Track Error in the GPS main function when navigating towards a waypoint you select
YES, if not, select NO.
4.5.1.9 SET DEGREES/MILS
Here is where you select which graduation you would like to use for the directions shown by the Multi-Navigator
TM
.
Available alternatives are DEGREES, MILS/6400, MILS/6300, MILS/6000 and 400gon. Normal graduation on the
compass is 360 degrees. If you would like to use this as your ”graduation” select DEGREES. Many defence forces
(NATO and others) use 6400 MILS. The Swedish army uses 6300 mils.
4.5.1.10 SOFTWARE VERSION
The software version as well as the internal serial number of your Multi-Navigator
TM
is found here.
4.5.1.11 DELETE ALL WPT
This function deletes the complete waypoint memory as well as all the stored routes! Do not enter it unless this
is what you really want to do!
4.5.1.12 LANGUAGE SELECTION
Here you select which language you would like the Multi-Navigator
TM
to use for its messages etc. It is good to know
that you can reach the LANGUAGE SELECTION from any main function by pressing YES-UP-YES-UP-YES and
then scroll through the list of languages with UP/DOWN until your preferred language is found. Then press SET
and the language is selected.
4.5.2 SETTINGS/ALTERNATIVES IN THE POSITION FUNCTION
4.5.2.1 TURN OFF GPS RECEIVER
Useful if you are indoors (where the GPS signal is normally lost) and want to work with the Multi-Navigator
TM
e.g.
editing waypoints etc. Even though the GPS receiver may be turned off, you can turn on the instrument to access
this function. This is an important benefit when outdoors as well, especially on long trips, when the saving of
battery power is important.
