Overview

The Sime Brava Slim 30 BFR is a low-temperature, wall-mounted boiler designed for heating purposes. This user manual provides essential information for its safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and installation. It is intended to be kept by the occupant for future reference.

Function Description

The Brava Slim 30 BFR boiler is a latest-generation modulating appliance that provides heating with maximum safety and low running costs. It operates in various modes, including "Stand-by," "Summer" (though not applicable to this specific boiler model), and "Winter." The boiler's control panel allows users to monitor its status, adjust settings, and identify any faults or malfunctions.

Key operational features include:

  • Operating Modes: Users can cycle through "Stand-by" and "Winter" modes using the main system switch. The "Summer" mode symbol may appear but is not functional for this model.
  • Temperature Adjustment: The heating flow temperature can be set between 20 and 80°C using the control panel buttons.
  • Pressure Monitoring: The display shows the heating system pressure, which should ideally be between 1-1.2 bar (100-120 kPa) when cold. If the pressure is too low (alarm "02"), users are instructed to open the filling valve to increase it.
  • Fault Indication: In case of a fault, an "ALL" message will appear on the display, followed by a specific fault code (e.g., "06" for no flame, "07" for safety thermostat intervention, "02" for low water pressure).
  • Antifreeze Function: The boiler is equipped with a standard antifreeze function and an anti-freeze kit to -15°C, allowing it to be installed in partially covered areas with ambient temperatures between -5°C and 60°C.
  • Power Level Indicator: The display shows the power level at which the boiler is operating.
  • Maintenance Request Indicator: A symbol will appear to indicate when it's time for maintenance.

Usage Features

The boiler is designed for user-friendly operation, though installation and major maintenance require professional intervention.

  • Ignition: After ensuring gas and water valves are open and preliminary checks are complete, users can start the boiler by setting the main system switch to "ON" and selecting the "Winter" operating mode.
  • Temperature Control: The heating temperature can be easily adjusted using the dedicated buttons on the control panel.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides instructions for addressing common alarms like low water pressure ("02"), no flame ("06"), and safety thermostat intervention ("07"). Users are guided to reset the boiler by pressing the main system switch button for at least 3 seconds after resolving the issue.
  • Temporary Shutdown: For short periods of non-use, the boiler can be put into "Stand-by" mode by pressing and holding the main system switch button. In this mode, the boiler remains powered, and the gas valve should be left open, especially if outside temperatures might fall below zero, to allow the antifreeze function to operate.
  • Long-Term Shutdown: For extended periods of non-use, the boiler should be put into "Stand-by" mode, the main system switch set to "OFF," and both the gas and heating system isolation valves closed. Draining the heating system is recommended if there's a risk of freezing.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several prohibitions, such as not allowing children or unassisted disabled persons to use the appliance, not touching it with wet hands or feet, and not modifying safety devices. It also warns against installing the boiler in environments that may limit its optimum operation (e.g., marine environments) or near flammable substances.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the boiler's correct and efficient operation, as well as for ensuring its prolonged useful life.

  • Recommended Maintenance: Sime recommends that maintenance and checks be carried out twice a year by a professionally qualified technician.
  • BI-ANNUAL Maintenance: The user is advised to call upon the services of a Professionally Qualified Technician for BI-ANNUAL maintenance.
  • External Cleaning: The cladding can be cleaned with a cloth dampened with soap and water or alcohol for stubborn marks. Abrasive products are forbidden.
  • Professional Intervention: All maintenance interventions, adjustments, and repairs must be carried out solely by professionally qualified personnel using original spare parts. Failure to comply with these instructions can jeopardize the appliance's safety and void the warranty.
  • Accessing Components: When accessing the bottom part of the appliance for maintenance, users are warned to ensure system components and pipes are not hot and to wear protective gloves.
  • Service Records: The manual includes dedicated sections for service records, allowing technicians to document maintenance performed over the years (Year 1, Year 3, Year 5, Year 7, Year 9, Year 11, Year 13). This helps track the boiler's service history.
  • Handover Instructions: The manual provides a checklist for installers to ensure the end-user is properly instructed on how to operate the system, perform basic fault resolution, and understand the importance of regular servicing. It specifically recommends that the boiler be serviced at/before the start of winter every year and that the heat exchanger be flushed at every service.
  • Disposal: At the end of its life span, the appliance must be disposed of in accordance with the European Directive 2012/19/EU, treating it as electrical and electronic waste. Disposal with urban waste is forbidden.
