Overview

The Simon XTi is a comprehensive security system designed to provide robust protection and convenient control over your premises. It functions as a central hub for various sensors and security features, allowing users to arm and disarm the system, monitor protected areas, and manage system settings with ease. The device features a touchscreen interface that displays real-time information, including system status, time, temperature, and custom messages.

Function Description

The primary function of the Simon XTi is to secure your property by monitoring various zones for potential threats. It supports both "AWAY" mode, for when you are leaving the premises, and "STAY" mode, for when you are at home but want to secure doors and windows. When armed, the system monitors all connected sensors, such as door/window contacts, motion detectors, and glass break sensors. In the event of a triggered sensor, the system is designed to initiate an alarm, which can include audible alerts and communication with a central monitoring station.

The system also provides essential information through its display, such as indoor and outdoor temperatures, and the status of protected areas (e.g., "CLOSED" for secure doors/windows). A custom dealer message area allows for personalized information to be displayed. The Simon XTi is equipped with an emergency button, providing immediate access to emergency services if needed.

Beyond basic arming and disarming, the Simon XTi offers advanced functionalities for managing security codes, bypassing zones, and adjusting system settings. It can detect and report various trouble conditions, ensuring the system remains operational and effective.

The Simon XTi is designed for user-friendly operation, primarily through its touchscreen interface.

    • To arm in STAY mode: From the home screen, select the [ARM] button, then [Arm Doors + Windows Only]. This arms only perimeter sensors, allowing movement within the premises.
    • To disarm: From the home screen, select the [DISARM] button, then enter your security code.
  • Bypassing Protected Areas: This feature allows you to arm the system while intentionally leaving certain zones unarmed, or to access a protected area when the system is armed.

    • To unbypass a zone: Select the [DISARM] button from the home screen, then enter your security code.
  • Security Codes: The system supports up to 8 different security codes for various users. Only the Master user can assign these codes and bypass sensors.

    • To add a user code: Select the [STATUS & SETTINGS] button from the home screen. Scroll to [Programming], select it, and enter your master security code. Select [ACCESS CODES]. Use the white field next to an access code to enter or edit a new code, then press [SAVE].
  • Chimes and Beeps: The system uses chimes and beeps to communicate events, such as when a protected door or window is opened.

    • To silence or enable chimes: Select the [STATUS & SETTINGS] button from the home screen. Scroll to the [Chime] button. Touching it toggles between Chime On and Chime Off. Select [CLOSE] to exit.

    • Select [CLOSE] to exit.

Maintenance Features

The Simon XTi incorporates features to help maintain its operational integrity and provides guidance for user-level maintenance tasks.

  • Battery Monitoring: The system operates on a 6V 1.3Ah battery. It is designed to monitor its own battery status and will likely report a "low battery" trouble condition when the battery needs replacement. Instructions for battery replacement are typically provided in a separate manual or on a dedicated support page.

  • Trouble Conditions: The Simon XTi automatically tests itself for various issues, including power failures, low batteries, non-working sensors, and communication troubles with the central monitoring station.

    • When a trouble condition is detected, the system will sound six rapid beeps every minute for four hours.
    • To silence trouble beeps: Press [STATUS] or arm/disarm the system. Further troubleshooting information is available on a dedicated support page.
  • System Reset: It is recommended to clear the system status after an alarm event to ensure proper functioning.

    • To clear and reset system status: Select the [STATUS & SETTINGS] button on the home screen. Select the [CLEAR] button next to [Panel Status]. Select [CLOSE] to exit.

The Simon XTi is designed to be a reliable and user-friendly security solution, providing both active protection and clear communication about its status and any potential issues. Regular review of the full Simon XTi manual is recommended for a comprehensive understanding of all system features and advanced configurations.
