- the optimal working speed depends on the material
and can be determined with practical trials
Operating the tool
! wear protective gloves and use safety glasses
- mount desired accessory
- switch on the tool
- advance the tool to the material/location to be scraped
- start with a at angle and light pressure
- work away from the body
- be aware that the stroke motion of the tool is only
produced when pressure is applied to the material to
be removed
- be aware that too much pressure may cause damage
to the background material
! do not overload the tool
! allow tool and accessory to cool down between
the individual work steps
Sharpening of accessories
- with sharp accessories, good working performance
and a long service life can be achieved
- sharpen the steel accessories before they come dull
APPLICATION ADVICE
Use accessory G for working on hard materials 8
! soft materials (such as wood and aluminium) can
be easily damaged with extra sharp blades
Possible applications are:
- removal of carpet adhesive and foam-, plaster-,
mortar- remains as well as remains of joint material
- smoothing of unevennesses
- removal of oor coverings
! hold the tool firmly with both hands and take a
secure stance
Use accessory H for working on soft materials 9
Possible applications are:
- removal of paint residue, silicon and plaster as well as
stucco from glass and plastic panels
- smoothing and removing of adhesive and sealing
residues from wooden ooring
Use accessory J for carving work 0
- carving is possible only in wood with short bres (such
as linden and poplar)
! hold the tool firmly with both hands and take a
secure stance
Use accessory K for removing sealing from window joints
or remains from door rabets !
MAINTENANCE / SERVICE
Always keep tool and cord clean (especially ventilation
slots F 2)
- clean the tool with a dry, soft cloth (do not use cleaning
agents or solvents)
! disconnect the plug before cleaning
Keep tool as well as accessories free from adhesives or
any other residuary material
Always store the tool indoors in its protective carton/case
If the tool should fail despite the care taken in manufacturing
and testing procedures, repair should be carried out by an
after-sales service centre for SKIL power tools
- send the tool undismantled together with proof of
purchase to your dealer or the nearest SKIL service
station (addresses as well as the service diagram of
the tool are listed on www.skil.com)
ENVIRONMENT
Do not dispose of electric tools, accessories and
packaging together with household waste material
(only for EU countries)
- in observance of European Directive 2012/19/EC on
waste of electric and electronic equipment and its
implementation in accordance with national law,
electric tools that have reached the end of their life
must be collected separately and returned to an
environmentally compatible recycling facility
- symbol 5 will remind you of this when the need for
disposing occurs

Measured in accordance with EN 62841 the sound
pressure level of this tool is 81 dB(A) and the sound
power level 92 dB(A) (standard deviation: 3 dB), and the
vibration 12.7 m/s² (triax vector sum; uncertainty K = 1.5
m/s²)
The vibration emission level has been measured in
accordance with a standardised test given in EN 62841; it
may be used to compare one tool with another and as a
preliminary assessment of exposure to vibration when
using the tool for the applications mentioned
- using the tool for dierent applications, or with dierent
or poorly maintained accessories, may signicantly
increase the exposure level
- the times when the tool is switched o or when it is
running but not actually doing the job, may signicantly
reduce the exposure level
