Overview

The SKYDROID H12/R12 series is a sophisticated remote control system designed for a variety of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and robotic applications. It integrates a remote controller (H12) and a receiver (R12), leveraging advanced technology for enhanced performance and reliability.

Function Description

The H12/R12 system is primarily used for the remote control of helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, multi-rotor wings, cars, and ships. It also facilitates video image transmission (with an optional camera) and data transmission, crucial for UAV flight control. The H12 remote controller features a GaoTongXiaolong 625 processor and an Android embedded system, which, combined with advanced SDR (Software Defined Radio) technology and a super protocol stack, ensures clearer images, lower latency, longer transmission distances, and stronger anti-interference capabilities. This makes it suitable for demanding applications in aircraft, robotics, and industrial control equipment.

Usage Features

Pre-check and Preparation:

Before operation, users must ensure the remote control has sufficient power, the antenna is correctly positioned for optimal signal, and the firmware is updated to the latest version. Operators should be sober and not under the influence of drugs.

Remote Controller Layout:

The H12 features a comprehensive layout including 2.4G 3dB antennas, various switches (Mode E, Pump Switch B, Multi-function Switch A, Power Switch), dials (G, H), buttons (Return C, Button D, AB Point Setting F), rotors (X1, Y1, X2, Y2), a 5.5-inch screen, MIC port, speaker, SIM card slot, and a Type-C charging port. The remote controller is powered on by long-pressing the power button for 4 seconds.

Receiver Connections:

The R12 receiver includes connections for RED LED, GN LED, MODE KEY, GND, USB 5V, DM/CH9, DP/CH10 (USB Upgrade Interface), RX1, TX1, RX2, TX2, RX3, TX3 (Expansion Interface), VCC (Camera interface), 5V (Data Transfer Interface/CBUS), SBUS, and 2.4G ANT (Antenna).

Receiver Status Lights:

  • Solid Green light: Communication is good.
  • Green light Slow flash: Disconnect from remote controller.
  • Green light Quick flash: Frequency matching mode.
  • Solid Red light: C.Bus mode.
  • Red light Slow flash: Upgrading.
  • Red light Quick flash: Self-check failed, please try again or return to factory.

System Navigation:

The Android-based system allows users to navigate through settings. To change the language, users can click "Setting" -> "System" -> "Languages & input." The status bar displays Bluetooth status, Wi-Fi signal, SIM card status, power display (including charging status), time, and options to view background processes, return to the main page, or go back to the previous step.

H12Tool Application:

The H12Tool provides several functionalities:

  1. Hand Settings: For switching control modes.
  2. Rudder Capacity Checking: To verify the responsiveness of the control sticks.
  3. Frequency Matching: For pairing the remote controller with receivers.
  4. Video Viewing: To check the image feed from the camera.
  5. Advanced Options: Allows adjustment of channels, rocker firmware upgrades, signal strength checks, and modification of receiver serial port baud rate (requires technician password).

Frequency Matching Procedure:

To match the receiver:

  • Method 1: Power on the receiver, then short-circuit GNG and MODE KEY. The green light will flash quickly. Open H12Tool on the remote controller and click "Frequency Matching." The receiver's green light will become solid upon successful matching.
  • Method 2: Quickly power on the receiver 5 times. On the 6th power-on, it will enter match mode, indicated by a flashing green light. Open H12Tool on the remote controller and click "Frequency Matching." The green light will become solid upon successful matching.

Rocker Calibration:

  1. Center the G and H rockers, then turn off the remote controller.
  2. Long press button D to power on, then release D after the controller starts.
  3. In H12Tool, check the rubber capacity and open auxiliary calibration.
  4. Long press button D to enter calibration mode; the remote controller will ring continuously.
  5. Move both right and left rockers to their maximum and minimum values sequentially. Long press D to confirm after movement.
  6. Restart the remote controller.

Common Questions and Solutions:

  • APP Installation: The remote controller's terminal permissions are open, allowing installation and uninstallation of various software.
  • Data Transmission Issues: Check UDP type connection, listening port (14551), baud rate, and ensure RX/TX connections are not reversed (correct: RX to TX, TX to RX).
  • Persistent Beeping: Indicates the remote controller is not successfully connected to the receiver.
  • Low Sound Volume: Adjust sound settings in the "Sound" option within the system settings.
  • Type-C Port Functionality: Besides charging, the Type-C port can connect to a computer for file viewing.
  • Network Connectivity: The remote controller supports network connection via SIM card or Wi-Fi.

Maintenance Features

Power and Charging:

The H12 series has a built-in rechargeable lithium battery and is compatible with standard Micro USB interfaces and 5V power adapters (e.g., USB chargers for mobile phones). If smoke, odor, or leakage occurs during charging, discontinue use and send for maintenance. Do not charge the product where babies can reach it or in environments above 60°C.

Long-term Storage:

Store the remote controller in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct sunlight to prevent battery overheating. For storage exceeding three months, the recommended temperature range is 22°C to 28°C. Never store batteries below -20°C or above 45°C.

Transportation and Storage Safety:

  • Keep cables and small parts away from children.
  • Do not immerse the remote controller in water. If it gets wet, wipe it with a soft dry cloth and immediately power it off.
  • Do not mechanically hit, crush, puncture, or drop the battery.
  • The antenna is a fragile part; avoid excessive stress.

Safety Warnings:

  • Do not operate when tired, drunk, or in poor physical condition.
  • Avoid flying in rain, strong wind, or other bad weather.
  • Do not fly near high voltage lines, communication base stations, or populated areas.
  • Do not fly in airports or other restricted areas.
  • Avoid flying in crowded places, parking areas, or areas where property loss or personal injury may occur.
  • Before flight, check the transceiving and receiving system and the aircraft.
  • Use a guaranteed professional charger for the battery.
