The Smeg BLF01 Blender is a 50's Style appliance designed for blending various ingredients, combining iconic aesthetics with innovative technical design. It features a powerful 600-watt motor housed in a stylish motor base.
Function Description:
The blender is equipped with a range of functions to facilitate diverse blending tasks:
- Blending Speeds: The control knob offers four different speeds (1 to 4) for continuous blending.
- Pulse Function: A dedicated pulse button allows for short bursts of maximum blending speed, ideal for demanding tasks. This function operates only when the button is pressed and stops immediately upon release. It is recommended to use a minimum quantity of 3 1/2 oz, blend for no more than 5 seconds consecutively, or 2 seconds when using dry ingredients. The Pulse function does not work in combination with the ICE CRUSH or SMOOTHIE programs.
- Pre-set Programs: The blender includes two pre-set programs:
- Ice Crush: This program is optimized for crushing ice cubes and blending drinks with frozen fruit, operating for approximately 50 seconds.
- Smoothie: Designed for creating thick smoothies, blended drinks, and milkshakes from fruits, ice cream, and yogurt, this program runs for approximately 60 seconds.
- Smooth Start Function: When a speed between 0 and 4 is selected, the Smooth Start function initiates the blending process at a reduced initial speed, which then progressively increases until the set speed is reached. This helps to improve blending results by gradually processing ingredients. The Smooth Start function does not work with the PULSE mode, ICE CRUSH, or SMOOTHIE programs.
- Safety Lock System: The blender incorporates a safety lock system that prevents operation when the jar is not properly placed on the motor base. This system automatically shuts off the blender if the jar is removed during operation.
- Motor Safety Cut-out: To prevent damage from overheating or overloading, the motor is equipped with a safety cut-out that trips if the motor is overloaded.

Usage Features:
- First Use Preparation: Before initial use, all stickers and labels should be removed, the motor base cleaned with a damp cloth, and the blender jar and blade assembly thoroughly washed and dried.
- Jar and Blade Assembly Removal/Installation:
- To remove the blender jar, hold the handle and lift.
- To remove the blade assembly, turn the jar upside down on a flat surface. Insert the open end of the measuring cup into the base of the blade assembly and turn it counterclockwise to unscrew. Manually remove the blade assembly.
- To install, reverse the removal steps, ensuring the blade assembly locks into place.
- Adding Ingredients: Ingredients can be added to the jar before blending. For continuous blending, additional ingredients can be poured through the pouring hole in the lid by removing the measuring cup.
- Operation:
- Insert the blender jar onto the motor base.
- Add ingredients, ensuring not to exceed the maximum capacity of 1.5 liters (6 cups).
- Position the lid with the measuring cup onto the blender jar, ensuring it is firmly screwed on.
- Plug the blender into a power socket. The red LED will illuminate to indicate power is on.
- Select the desired speed (1-4) using the control knob or press the PULSE button for maximum speed.
- Press the START/STOP button to begin blending.
- To cancel or stop a blending cycle at any time, press the START/STOP button.
- After blending, press the STOP button, turn the knob to 'O', and unplug the blender.
- Tips for Optimal Use:
- Cut food into smaller pieces for better blending results.
- Use the PULSE function for no more than 2 seconds at a time when blending dry mixtures, pushing ingredients down the sides of the jar with a spatula if needed.
- When blending liquid and dry ingredients, add liquids first, then dry ingredients.
- Always remove pits from fruit and bones from meat to prevent damage to the blade assembly.
- Do not let food residues dry on the jar and blades; clean promptly or soak in warm water.
- Do not process hot food; let it cool to room temperature before blending.

- Cleaning Instructions:
- General: Always unplug the blender before cleaning. Do not immerse the motor base in water or other liquids. Do not use steam jets.
- Motor Base: Clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Blender Jar and Blade Assembly: These parts can be washed in warm soapy water or in the dishwasher.
- Other Blender Parts: The blender lid and measuring cup can be washed in warm soapy water or in the dishwasher. Ensure they are dried completely before fitting them back on the blender base.
- Self-clean Option:
- Fill the jar with warm water and mild detergent.
- Turn the control knob to setting 1.
- Press the START button.
- Press the PULSE button for 2 seconds at a time, repeating the operation about 10 times.
- Remove the jar, empty, and rinse it.
- Dry thoroughly.
- Blade Assembly Cleaning: Never touch the blades with bare hands. Remove the blade assembly only using the measuring cup as a tool.
- Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive or corrosive detergents (e.g., powder products, stain removers, and metallic scourers) or rough/abrasive materials or sharp metal scrapers.
- Maintenance: All service should be performed by an authorized service representative.
