Do you have a question about the Smeg CTA15-2 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The provided manual describes the Smeg CTA15-2 Warming Drawer, an appliance designed for household use to warm crockery.

Function Description

The warming drawer operates using a warm air circulation system. An electrical heating element generates heat, which is then distributed throughout the appliance's interior by a fan. A thermostat allows the user to set and control the desired temperature for the crockery, ranging from 30°C to 75°C. The circulating hot air ensures quick and even heating of the crockery. A metal grille protects both the heating element and the fan. The base of the drawer is fitted with a non-slip mat to prevent plates and dishes from sliding when the drawer is opened and closed.

The appliance is primarily intended for warming crockery and is not designed to heat up the air temperature in the kitchen.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Temperature Range: 30°C to 75°C
  • Maximum Load Capacity: 25 kg
  • Installation: Designed for built-in installation, often in combination with other appliances. Requires a fixed, interim shelf in the housing unit to support the weight of both appliances.
  • Electrical Connection: Requires proper earthing and connection via an omnipolar switch with a minimum contact gap of 3mm for emergency disconnection. The voltage and frequency of the mains supply must match the rating plate.
  • Dimensions: Installation dimensions are provided in millimeters within the manual's installation diagram. The niche for installation requires specific measurements, including a minimum height of 585mm, width of 560-568mm, and depth greater than 550mm. The appliance itself has dimensions of approximately 595mm width, 540mm depth, and 136mm height (for the drawer unit) or 446mm height (for an oven placed above).

Usage Features

The warming drawer features a control panel with a display and several indicator lights and keys:

  • Control Panel: Includes a display, Timer indicator light, Temperature indicator light, Delayed Start indicator light, Function / ON key, Up (increase) key, Down (decrease) / OFF key, and an Operation indicator light.
  • Operating Modes:
    • Stand-by Mode: System is disconnected, no lights or display are lit.
    • Normal Operation: The system generates heat. The display alternates between remaining operating time and set temperature every 2 seconds. The Timer and Temperature indicator lights flash accordingly, and the Operation indicator light is continuously illuminated until the timer reaches zero.
      • Programming: Users can set the desired operation time (0h00-4h00) and temperature (30°C-75°C) using the "F", "↑", and "↓" keys.
    • Delayed Start: The display shows the remaining time until the operation starts, counting down. The Operation indicator light blinks, and the Delayed Start indicator is illuminated.
      • Programming: After setting normal operation parameters, users can set a start delay (0h00-9h50) using the "F", "↑", and "↓" keys.
  • Cancel Operation: Programming can be cancelled at any time by pressing the "↓" key for 3 seconds.
  • Heating Times: These vary depending on crockery material and thickness, load quantity, crockery arrangement, and temperature setting. As a guide, warming crockery for 6 people at 60°C takes approximately 30-35 minutes.
  • Load Capacity: The drawer can accommodate various items, for example:
    • 6 x 24cm dinner plates, 6 x 10cm soup bowls, 1 x 19cm serving dish, 1 x 17cm serving dish, 1 x 32cm meat plates.
    • Alternatively, 20 dishes with Ø 28 cm.
    • Alternatively, 80 espresso coffee cups.
    • Alternatively, 40 tea cups.
  • Safety during Use:
    • Do not sit or hang on the drawer to avoid damaging telescopic runners; maximum load is 25 kg.
    • Use oven gloves or an oven cloth when removing crockery, as internal temperatures can reach 75°C.
    • Do not store synthetic containers or easily inflammable objects inside the drawer to prevent melting or fire.
    • Children should be supervised and not allowed to play near the appliance due to burn risk.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Always disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply before cleaning.
    • Appliance Front and Control Panel: Clean with a damp cloth. For heavy dirt, use a few drops of washing-up liquid. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. For stainless steel surfaces, special products can be used to prevent future dirt.
    • Interior: Clean regularly with a damp cloth, using washing-up liquid for heavy dirt. Wipe dry. Avoid water entering the air circulation opening. Ensure the drawer is completely dry before reuse.
    • Non-slip Mat: The mat can be removed for cleaning. Wash by hand with hot water and a few drops of washing-up liquid. Dry thoroughly before replacing.
    • Do not use high-pressure or steam jet cleaning devices, as this can damage electrical components and surfaces.
    • Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning products, sponges, or pointed objects to avoid stains or abrasion marks.
  • Repairs:
    • All repairs and maintenance, especially involving electrical parts, must only be performed by technicians authorized by the manufacturer. Unauthorized repairs void the guarantee and pose safety risks.
    • If the flexible supply cable needs changing, it must be replaced by an official After Sales Service.

Safety Precautions

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Installation and servicing must be carried out by qualified staff in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • The appliance must be earthed to ensure electrical safety.
  • Never obstruct ventilation and heat dispersal openings.
  • The nameplate with technical data must not be removed.
  • Only use the appliance when fitted into its built-in position to prevent access to electrical components.
  • Never open the appliance's frame, as contact with electrical parts or changes to components can be dangerous.
  • The appliance is exclusively for domestic use.
  • Disconnect from power during installation or repair work by disconnecting fuses/circuit breakers or removing the plug directly (not by pulling the cable).
  • The manufacturer is not responsible for injuries or damage resulting from non-compliance with regulations, tampering, or using non-original spare parts.
