Why won't my Snapper ELT RD ELT2440RD Lawn Mower engine start?
    • W
      William JonesAug 17, 2025
Your Snapper Lawn Mower might not start due to several reasons: the brake pedal may not be fully depressed, so fully depress the brake pedal. The PTO (electric clutch) switch might be in the ON position, so place it in the OFF position. Cruise control might be engaged, so move the knob to the NEUTRAL/OFF position. Also, check if it is out of fuel, and if the engine is hot, allow it to cool before refilling. The engine might be flooded, so disengage the choke. The battery might be discharged or dead, so recharge or replace the battery.

If your Snapper Lawn Mower engine stalls when the mower is engaged, it could be due to several reasons. Ensure the engine speed is set to full throttle and that you are not moving too fast. If the cutting height is set too low, especially in tall grass, raise it to the maximum height for the first pass. Also, the engine may not be up to operating temperature, so run it for several minutes to warm it up. Avoid starting the mower in tall grass; start in a cleared area.
