Installation and Usage Features:

The SMS-STX speaker is designed for straightforward installation and flexible usage.

  • Securing the Speaker: The speaker can be hung to the deck using a chain, metal wire, or any other appropriate device attached to the central 5mm plastic hook. It is crucial to use an anchor of sufficient strength to support the speaker's weight. For regulations requiring a second safety anchor, a black safety hanger is provided, fixed on the metal frame of the speaker driver.
  • Connecting the Speaker: All wiring should be carried out with 2-conductor stranded copper wire, with a minimum calibre of 18 AWG (1mm²). The wire size should be specified by the installation designer, and local regulations for wiring requirements must be followed. Speakers are connected in parallel, in a daisy-chain configuration, using the phoenix screw-connector to connect the wire(s) to the speaker.
  • SMS-STXATT Attenuator (Optional): For attenuating the sound output from a single speaker, the SMS-STXATT attenuator (available separately) can be used. This accessory allows for a 3 dB or 6 dB attenuation of the signal sent to the speaker. To use it, simply unplug the phoenix connector from the speaker and connect it to the appropriate input on the attenuator: -3 dB on the left and -6 dB on the right. The attenuator has dimensions of 48.52mm x 65.00mm (±0.15mm).

Safety Instructions (Important for Maintenance and Operation):

  • Always read and keep the instructions provided in the user guide.
  • Heed all warnings and follow all instructions in the manual.
  • Install the device in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Clean the device only with a dry cloth.
  • Do not install the speaker near water.
  • Ensure that no ventilation openings are blocked.
  • Avoid installing the speaker near heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  • Use only the power cord with the sealed mains plug appropriate for your local main supply as provided with the equipment. If the provided plug does not fit the outlet, contact the manufacturer.
  • Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, especially at plugs, convenience receptacles, and where it exits the apparatus.
  • Only use attachments and accessories specified by the manufacturer.
  • Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required if the apparatus has been damaged in any way (e.g., damaged power-supply cord or plug, liquid spilled, objects fallen into, exposure to rain or moisture, abnormal operation, or if it has been dropped).
  • Operate the product only with the voltage specified on the unit to prevent fire and/or electric shock.
  • Do not modify, kink, or cut the power cord. Avoid placing the power cord in close proximity to heaters or placing heavy objects on the power cord and/or the product itself, as this may result in fire or electrical shock.
  • Ensure the installation of this product is stable. Avoid slanted surfaces, as the product may fall and cause injury, property damage, electrocution, and/or fire.
  • Do not open the cover of the device.

The SMS-STX is a robust and versatile sound masking solution, designed for both aesthetic integration and effective acoustic management in various commercial environments. Its polycarbonate enclosure ensures durability, while the phoenix screw connectors facilitate reliable wiring. The optional attenuator adds a layer of control for fine-tuning sound levels in specific areas.
