Overview

This document is a user manual for the SOLO6 electric scooter, providing instructions for its safe use, operation, assembly, riding, and maintenance.

Function Description

The SOLO6 is an electric scooter designed for personal transportation. It features an accelerator for speed control and disc brakes for stopping. The scooter is equipped with dual front and rear lights, including a rear brake light, for visibility. It also has dual front shock absorbers and a single rear suspension system to provide a smoother ride. The scooter is foldable for portability and storage, with a locking clasp to secure it in the folded or unfolded position. A kickstand allows for upright parking. The dashboard provides essential information such as speed, odometer readings, battery level, and current speed mode.

Usage Features

The manual outlines a clear process for using the SOLO6 scooter, starting with assembly and unfolding. To unfold, the user presses down on the rear mudguard while lifting the steering column into place, then secures the locking mechanism. The handlebar height can be adjusted for comfortable riding.

The LED dashboard is central to operation. It displays the current gear (speed mode), speed in km/h, trip distance, total odometer reading, and battery level. An error display is also present to alert the user to potential issues. The scooter offers three speed modes: L1 (Low), L2 (Medium), and L3 (High), which can be cycled through using the "M" button on the dashboard.

Powering the scooter on involves pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds. The same action turns it off. Short presses of the power button cycle through trip information (TRIP), accumulated mileage (ODO), and time.

Riding the scooter requires a specific sequence for safety and balance. First, the scooter is powered on. Then, the rider holds the handlebars with both hands, places one foot on the deck, and uses the other foot to push off and start moving. Once momentum is gained, the throttle lever on the right handlebar is pressed to accelerate, and the second foot is placed on the deck to maintain balance. The throttle lever is released, and both brake levers are gently pressed to slow down or stop. A crucial safety note emphasizes releasing both throttle and brake levers when powering the scooter on or off.

The manual stresses the importance of adhering to local guidance and highway laws, as electric scooters are currently not permitted on public roads, footpaths, or cycle lanes in the United Kingdom. Riders are advised to be aware of their surroundings, pedestrians, and traffic. Protective equipment, including a helmet, gloves, knee, and elbow pads, is recommended. The scooter is intended for users aged 16 or over, for short, local journeys or recreation in safe, spacious areas. It is designed for a single rider and should not be operated under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Distractions from mobile devices or other items should be avoided. In busy areas, riders are encouraged to slow down or dismount.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance instructions are provided to ensure the scooter's longevity and safe operation.

Cleaning:

Before cleaning, the scooter must be powered off, unplugged from the charger, and the charging port cap securely closed to prevent electrical shock or short-circuiting. Cleaning should be done with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, a small amount of toothpaste and a toothbrush can be used, followed by wiping with a damp cloth. Harsh chemicals such as alcohols, solvents, petrol, spirits, or other corrosive/volatile substances should not be used, as they can cause irreparable damage. High-pressure brushes or washers are also prohibited.

Storage:

The scooter should be stored indoors in a cool, dry place. Outdoor storage, direct sunlight, or extreme heat can lead to irreversible cosmetic damage and reduced battery life.

Charging the Battery:

The battery should not be disconnected for any reason, as this poses risks of injury or damage from electric shocks or short-circuiting. In case of battery issues, the authorized dealer should be contacted. The scooter should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, moisture, extreme heat, or cold, to maintain battery effectiveness. The charger is plugged into the charging port, and a green indicator light signals a full charge. Overcharging a fully charged battery should be avoided. It is recommended to recharge the battery after every use rather than letting it fully discharge, to maintain effectiveness. Colder temperatures may result in shorter mileage ranges. For long-term storage, the scooter should be charged every two months to prevent over-discharge. Damage from over-discharging is unrepairable and not covered by warranty.

Disposal:

Responsible disposal of the product is emphasized, recommending local recycling facilities over general waste. The authorized dealer can provide further advice.

Tyres:

Both tyres should be inflated to 45psi. Instructions are provided for changing flat tyres or punctures.

  • Front Wheel Removal: Undo the axle bolts to slide the wheel out.
  • Rear Wheel Removal: Carefully open the rear plastic cover housing the motor, disconnect cables, undo screws (noting their original positions), and pull the motor out to access and remove the rear wheel.
  • Removing Tyres: Deflate the tyre, lubricate the sides with soapy water, and use a metal tyre crowbar to pop and slide the tyre off the hub. This allows access to inner tubes for changing. Reassembly involves reversing these steps.

Lubrication:

A small amount of lubricating oil should be applied to the lever sleeves on the handlebars. WD-40 or similar rust-resistant oils should not be used to lubricate parts. Wheels or other scooter parts should not be lubricated; any issues in these areas require contacting the authorized dealer.

Brakes:

If brake effectiveness decreases, the brake cables can be tightened using the regulators on the handles. If tightening does not improve braking or if braking becomes noisy, the discs or pads may need replacement. For any maintenance concerns or replacement parts, the authorized dealer should be contacted.
