Why do menu item settings change accidentally on my Sony DVR?
    • P
      Philip JacobsSep 23, 2025
If menu settings are changing unexpectedly on your Sony DVR, it may be because you unplugged the power cord while adjusting the menu or the brightness of the LCD monitor. Adjust the menu again. To prevent this, avoid unplugging the unit while making these adjustments.

What to do if a menu item is not available on Sony DSR-45/45P?
    • R
      Richard MccormickAug 23, 2025
A menu item might not be available on your Sony DVR for several reasons: * The REMOTE/LOCAL switch may be set to REMOTE. Set the switch to LOCAL before adjusting the menu. * If REC MODE on the VTR SET menu is set to DV SP, some menu items will be disabled. Change REC MODE to DVCAM. * Some menu items are only accessible in EE mode or playback mode. Ensure the unit is in EE mode or playback mode. * Some items on the TC/UB SET menu are only available if TC MAKE is set to PRESET. Set TC MAKE to PRESET. * Some menu items are unavailable when the REC/SAVE switch on the cassette inside the unit is set to SAVE. Set the switch to REC.

If your Sony DVR starts recording or playing by itself even when the REMOTE/LOCAL switch is set to REMOTE, the TIMER selector might be set to REPEAT or REC. Set the TIMER selector to OFF. Also, if LOCAL ENBL on the REMOTE menu is set to other than NO KEY and COMMANDER on the OTHERS menu is set to WIRELESS, the unit responds to signals from the Remote Commander even though the REMOTE/LOCAL switch is set to REMOTE.
