CABLE TV TOOL KIT Installaon Guide
WARNING: Tools are not insulated. Never use tools on live circuits.
Wear eye protection when using tools. Tools have moving parts that can pinch/cut.
Keep fingers clear of tools.
Cut
1. Cut cable to length.
Hold the cable perpendicular
to the tool for a clean cut.
Install the Connector
1. Fold the exposed braiding back over
the outer jacket.
2. Insert cable into the F connector
making sure the cable is fully seated.
When looking down into the connector,
the white dielectric should be flush with
the bottom of the “cup” made by the
hex nut on the connector.
NOTE: The connectors included in this kit are intended for RG6 Dual Shield
coaxial cable. For best results on RG6 Quad Shield, Southwire recommends
connectors specifically made for quad shield cable.
Strip
1. Pull down on trigger to open the
stripping hole.
2. Insert cable through opening in the
direction shown by the arrow on the
side of the tool. The end of the cable
should be flush with the opening on
the other side of the tool.
3. Release tension on trigger, rotate tool
around cable 3 times.
4. Remove tool from cable and remove
strippings from cable end by hand.
Using the tool to remove the strippings
will shorten blade life.
5. A properly stripped cable will reveal
¼” (6.4mm) of the center conductor
and ¼” (6.4mm) of shielded.
Crimp
1. Open up the crimp tool.
2. Place the connector assembly into
the crimping chamber.
3. Squeeze the handles until the
connector is fully crimped.
NOTE: Tool accepts 20.3mm
compression F connectors - this is the
standard size commonly available.

Summary

Install the Connector

Fold Braiding Back

Fold the exposed braiding back over the outer jacket of the coaxial cable.

Insert Cable

Insert cable into F connector ensuring it's fully seated and dielectric is flush.

Connector Compatibility Note

Kit connectors are for RG6 Dual Shield; RG6 Quad Shield may need specific connectors.

Cable Preparation Steps

Cut Cable to Length

Cut the cable perpendicular to the tool for a clean cut.

Strip Cable

Use the stripping tool to remove outer layers, exposing conductor and shielding.

Stripped Cable Specification

A properly stripped cable shows 1/4" (6.4mm) of conductor and 1/4" (6.4mm) of shielding.

Crimp the Connector

Open Crimp Tool

Open the crimp tool to prepare it for the connector assembly.

Place Assembly in Tool

Place the connector assembly into the designated crimping chamber.

Perform Crimp

Squeeze the tool handles until the connector is fully crimped.

Crimp Tool Specification

Tool accepts standard 20.3mm compression F connectors.
