SAFETY INFORMATION
PRE-INSTALLATION
Please read and understand this entire manual before
attempting to assemble, operate or install the product.
WARNING
Turn off electricity at main fuse box (or circuit breaker box) before beginning installation by removing fuse
or switching off circuit breaker.
Be careful not to damage or cut the wire insulation (covering) during fixture installation. Do not allow wires
to contact any surface having a sharp edge. By doing so, it may damage or cut the wire insulation, which
could cause serious injury or death from electric shock.
LED electronics can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD) shock. Before installation, discharge
yourself by touching a grounded bare metal surface to remove this hazard. To avoid unintended damage,
do not touch the LED module.
CAUTION
All electrical connections must be in accordance with local codes, ordinances or the national electric code (NEC).
Contact your municipal building department to learn about your local codes, permits and/or inspections.
Risk of fire – most dwellings built before 1985 have supply wire rated for 140°F/60°C.Consult a qualified
electrician before installation.
Do not connect this fixture to an electrical system that does not provide a means for equipment grounding or
a ground wire. Never use this fixture in a two-wire system that can not be grounded. If you are not sure your
electrical system has a ground wire, do not attempt to install this fixture. Contact a qualified, licensed
electrician for information with regards to proper grounding methods as required by the local electrical code
in your area.
If a dimmer switch is used with this fixture, obtain professional advice to determine the correct type and
electrical rating required.
Before beginning assembly, installation or operation of product, make sure all parts are present. Compare parts

Photoelectric Switch JL-404 Installation

Instructions for installing the JL-404 photoelectric switch.

Overview

This document provides an installation manual for the Spitzer Lighting Wall Pack Series, specifically a Semi Cut-Off Wall Pack Luminaire.

Function Description

The Spitzer Lighting Wall Pack Series is a semi cut-off wall pack luminaire designed for outdoor lighting applications. It provides illumination while minimizing light spill above the horizontal plane, which is characteristic of semi cut-off fixtures. The luminaire is designed for permanent installation and is suitable for various environments, indicated by its IP65 rating. It can be equipped with a photoelectric switch (JL-404) for automatic dusk-to-dawn operation, enhancing energy efficiency and convenience.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Input Voltage: 100-277V, making it versatile for different electrical systems.
  • Wattage Options: Available in 60W, 80W, 100W, and 120W, allowing for selection based on desired light output and energy consumption.
  • Feature: IP65 Rating, indicating that the fixture is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor and harsh environments.
  • Photoelectric Switch (JL-404): An optional component that enables automatic on/off functionality based on ambient light levels.

Usage Features

  • Installation: The manual outlines a step-by-step installation process, emphasizing safety precautions. It requires loosening set screws, fixing the photoelectric switch (if used), making secure wire connections, and then closing the fixture.
  • Wiring: Detailed instructions are provided for wiring the luminaire, including connections for the photoelectric switch. It specifies connecting the N wire to N wire and L wire to L wire for the switch, and for the main power, connecting the HOT wire (black) to the fixture's BLACK wire, the NEUTRAL wire (white) to the fixture's WHITE wire, and the GROUNDING wire (green/yellow) to the fixture's GROUND wire.
  • Safety: The manual strongly emphasizes safety, advising users to turn off power before any installation or servicing, and recommending that only licensed electricians perform installations. It warns against electric shock, fire, and property damage if instructions are not followed. It also highlights the importance of proper grounding and avoiding installation in areas with heavy aggressive gas or covering the heat sink.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules for Class B digital devices, meaning it is designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. Users are advised on how to correct potential radio or TV interference.
  • Hardware: The manual lists necessary hardware components for installation: Wire Nuts (3), Gasket (1), and Machine Screws (2). Tools required (but not included) are screwdrivers (phillips and standard), pliers, electrical tape, wire cutters, safety glasses, ladder, and a wire stripper.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: For cleaning, users are instructed to disconnect power by turning off the breaker or removing the fuse. The fixture can be cleaned with a soft cloth periodically.
  • Chemical Avoidance: To maintain the best appearance and integrity of the fixture, it is crucial to avoid cleaners with chemicals, solvents, or harsh abrasives. Liquid cleaners should not be used on the LEDs, LED driver, or wiring inside the light fixture.
  • Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting section addresses the common issue of the light not coming on. Possible causes include improper connections or lack of power. Solutions involve checking wire connections, ensuring the breaker is on, and testing the power supply with another electrical device.
  • Warranty: The manual states that product faults caused by separating, remodeling, or incorrect construction are not covered under the quality warranty. Damage linked to inappropriate use is also excluded from warranty support.
  • Product Revisions: Spitzer Lighting reserves the right to revise product components due to part availability or changes in ETL, CUL, UL standards without obligation to modify previously manufactured products or provide notice.
  • Gasket Importance: A crucial caution is to ensure the waterproof rubber gasket (Part F) is assembled correctly to maintain the IP65 rating and prevent water ingress.
  • Photoelectric Controller: Users are cautioned not to overspread the photoelectric controller (Part D).
