Do you have a question about the SprintRay Pro S and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The SprintRay Pro S is a desktop 3D printer designed specifically for digital dentistry, offering a comprehensive solution for dental practices to produce models in-house. This quick start guide outlines the setup, operation, and maintenance of the device, emphasizing ease of use and reliable performance.

Function Description:

The SprintRay Pro S is engineered to create high-quality 3D models for various dental applications. It utilizes resin-based additive manufacturing technology, where liquid resin is cured layer by layer by a light source to form a solid object. The printer is designed to be user-friendly, allowing dental professionals to quickly and efficiently produce accurate models. Its integration with SprintRay RayWare software facilitates seamless preparation and printing of dental designs. The device supports a range of SprintRay resins, each tailored for specific dental applications, ensuring versatility and precision.

Important Technical Specifications:

The SprintRay Pro S printer operates within a recommended temperature range of 21°C (70°F) to 29°C (85°F). It requires a flat and level surface for optimal performance and should be situated in a well-ventilated area, away from extreme temperatures, windows, bright UV light sources, and direct sunlight. The printer is equipped with a built-in heater for the print platform, which helps improve print reliability. The resin tank and print platform come pre-installed, though protective films must be removed before first use. The size of the print platform and resin tank may vary depending on the specific model (Pro 55S or Pro 95S). The printer connects to a network, allowing for remote monitoring and software updates.

Usage Features:

  1. Setup and Connectivity: The printer is designed for easy setup. Users plug in the power cable and connect the printer to a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply. It automatically enters power mode when not in use. The Pro S is discoverable on the network, requiring connection to the same wireless network as the computer running the SprintRay RayWare software.
  2. Resin Tank Preparation: The resin tank is pre-installed and includes a cover. To prepare, the tank is unlocked by pulling it forward until a 'click' is heard, then lifted to remove it from its cradle. The guide emphasizes the importance of checking resin levels and ensuring the tank is properly locked before printing. The printer is equipped with Smart Life Tracking, which monitors the lifespan and health of each resin tank, prompting users to check resin levels and follow instructions to ensure longevity.
  3. Resin Management: Resin tanks are consumable and have an expected lifespan. Users are advised to follow instructions to understand the remaining life of their resin tank. A backup resin tank should be kept on hand to avoid downtime. The printer features Min/Max indicators on the resin tank (200ml min/500ml max for Pro 95S; 150ml min/400ml max for Pro 55S) to guide resin filling. Best practices include dedicating a resin tank for each different material and keeping a backup tank. Resin should be stirred before each print to ensure consistency, using a resin wiper to mix the tank. After printing, the resin tank should be covered to help extend the life of the resin.
  4. Print Platform Preparation: The print platform is pre-installed and features a built-in heater for improved print reliability. To unlock the platform, users turn the lock/unlock mechanism, insert and lock it, and then unlock and pull to remove.
  5. Software Integration: The SprintRay Pro S integrates with SprintRay RayWare software, which can be downloaded from sprintray.com/software. This software is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems. Users prepare print jobs in RayWare by selecting the printer, importing STL models, orienting them, adding supports if necessary, and then sending the job to the printer.
  6. Printing Process: Before starting a print, users are instructed to wear gloves and inspect/stir the resin tank with a resin wiper. The printer will display the print status on its touchscreen. The print platform moves down into the resin tank, and the printing process begins. During printing, the UV lid should remain closed to block UV light. The printer may have to go through a warming resin process, which can take up to 15 minutes. The printer runs independently once a print job begins, and network or computer issues will not affect print progress as long as the printer maintains power.
  7. Finishing a Print Job: Once printing is complete, the build arm automatically raises, and the print platform can be removed. A print removal tool and support snipper are provided to detach the printed models from the platform and remove supports. Users are advised to wear gloves during this process.
  8. Post-Curing: After printing, models must be washed with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) and then post-cured using a SprintRay Pro Wash/Dry and ProCure 2 unit. The guide specifies washing models for two minutes in a Pro Wash/Dry unit, followed by a two-minute automated two-stage wash and dry. Post-curing requirements depend on the material specifications and regional regulatory requirements. Users can use presets on SprintRay ProCure 2 to complete the post-curing in a few minutes.

Maintenance Features:

  1. Cleaning the Printer Chassis: The printer chassis should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. If resin is spilled on the chassis, it should be immediately wiped clean with a paper towel and IPA.
  2. Cleaning the Optical Glass: The clear 3D printer optical glass should be cleaned regularly. If resin cures onto the optical window, users should spray the glass with IPA and wipe with a soft cloth. Repeat if necessary, and then use a clean cloth to wipe down to clean away fingerprints or other smudges.
  3. Cleaning the Underside Tank Glass: The underside tank glass should be cleaned regularly. To clean, users spray the glass with IPA to remove resin and then use a glass cleaner to finish.
  4. Resin Tank Backup and Disposal: Resin tanks are consumable and have an expected lifespan. A backup resin tank should be kept on hand to avoid downtime. Cured resin can be discarded as regular trash. Never dispose of liquid resin in a sink or other plumbing.
  5. Software Updates: SprintRay periodically publishes software updates for the Pro S 3D printer. The printer must be connected to the internet to receive these updates.
  6. Reorder Consumables: To reorder consumables, including materials and resin tanks, users should contact their equipment dealer representative.
