Introduction
The GS3-MT Admin Reader uses OneProx technology to allow PAC / KeyPAC tokens and cards
to be read by a PC.
If required, an external reader can be wired in to the screw terminals of the desktop reader
when the base cover is removed see page 7.
The GS3-MT Admin Reader may also be supplied with a non-isolated RS-485 interface and line
driver for connection to an AC 512 access controller. The line driver is plugged in to the RS-232
port of the AC 512. Other AC 512s can be connected to the first AC 512 via RS-485 terminals
to provide a direct channel see page 7. For applications that require an isolated RS-485
interface, the GS3-MT Admin Reader can be wired into an isolated RS-485 hub.
Notes
Connecting to a client PC requires the USB device driver and the standalone OneProx
Admin tool, NT500 version 3.1 or higher or the iPAC web interface.
When the USB device driver is installed it creates a new virtual COM port on the
PC. The client PC uses this port to connect to the Admin Reader.
The +5V output is derived from the USB power line and is provided for reference.
No more than 50mA should be drawn from this or the USB power limit will come
into operation and the computer will shut down the USB port. This may require a
reboot of the PC before the reader will operate again.
External readers require their own power supply and must be powered up before
the USB connection.
