Overview

This document describes the "Boom Boom Balloon" game, a Star Wars-themed game designed for 2-6 players, with a game duration of approximately 15 minutes. The game is suitable for ages 8 and up.

Function Description

The primary objective of the Boom Boom Balloon game is to be the "Rebel Leader with the most X-wing Starfighters in play when the Death Star explodes!" Players take turns rolling a die and either attaching X-wing Starfighters to Laser sticks and pushing them into the balloon frame, or performing a "swap" action with an opponent's Starfighter. The game culminates when the Death Star balloon bursts, and the player with the most X-wing Starfighters in play at that moment is declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the player who pops the balloon wins.

Usage Features

Game Frame Assembly (Adult Assembly Required):

  1. Slot each of the three balloon frame legs into the upper connector until the locking tabs click forward.
  2. Click the bowl-shaped connector piece into the slots in each of the three legs.
  3. Take an uninflated Death Star balloon and push its mouth through the bowl-shaped connector piece at the bottom of the balloon frame.
  4. Hold the balloon in place and inflate it within the frame using a balloon pump. A pump must always be used for inflation.
  5. Tightly fold and wrap the mouthpiece of the balloon around the notch in the connector to ensure it remains inflated.

Game Setup:

  • Place the Laser sticks and the die next to the Death Star game frame.
  • For 2 Players: Players decide if they will be Red Leader, Gold Leader, or Blue Leader and take all 6 X-wing Starfighters of their chosen color. The other 6 X-wing Starfighters are set aside.
  • For 3 Players: Players decide if they will be Red Leader, Gold Leader, or Blue Leader and take all 6 X-wing Starfighters of their chosen color.
  • For 4 or More Players: Players divide into two or three teams and decide if they will be Red Leader, Gold Leader, or Blue Leader. Each team takes all 6 X-wing Starfighters of their chosen color. Any remaining X-wing Starfighters are set aside.

Playing the Game:

  • The youngest player starts the game. Play proceeds in a clockwise direction.
  • Rolling a Number: If a player rolls a number on the die, they take one of their X-wing Starfighters, attach it to a Laser stick, and push it into one of the empty holes in the balloon frame. The number of clicks pushed corresponds to the number rolled.
  • Rolling a Swap Symbol: If a player rolls a swap symbol, they have two options:
    1. Remove one of an opponent's X-wing Starfighters from its Laser stick, replace it with one of their own X-wing Starfighters, and push it in one click. The opponent's removed Starfighter is returned to them.
    2. Alternatively, they can choose not to swap, and instead take one of their own X-wing Starfighters, attach it to a Laser stick, and push it in one click.
  • No More Laser Sticks Available:
    • If a number is rolled, the player pushes any of the X-wing Starfighters already in play the number of clicks equal to the number rolled.
    • If a swap symbol is rolled, the player can either perform a swap as described above or push any Laser stick in play one click.
  • Pushing Sticks: When pushing, players can choose to push one Laser stick the full number of clicks rolled, or spread the clicks out between any of the sticks currently in play.

Maintenance Features

Disassembly and Storage (Adult Disassembly Required):

  1. Remove the balloon from the game frame. For safety reasons, ensure all pieces of the balloon are immediately thrown away due to choking hazards.
  2. Remove the Laser sticks from the game by first detaching the X-wing Starfighters. Then, push the sticks in one-by-one until they come loose from the balloon frame. It is impossible to push the Lasers from the inside to the outside for safety reasons.
  3. Push the lower connector upwards to click it out of the frame.
  4. Disconnect each of the three legs from the connector by pushing the locking tabs inward and lifting each leg up and out of the connector.
