Overview

The Steamfast SF-707 Mighty Steam Iron is a dual-voltage appliance designed for both dry and steam ironing, offering portability and versatility for various fabric care needs.

Function Description:

The Steamfast SF-707 serves as a compact and efficient iron for removing wrinkles from garments and fabrics. It offers two primary modes of operation: dry ironing and steam ironing. For dry ironing, the unit heats its ironing plate to a selected temperature, suitable for fabrics that do not require steam or are sensitive to moisture. For steam ironing, the unit heats water in its internal tank to produce steam, which is then released through steam vents to relax fabric fibers and facilitate wrinkle removal. The iron features a Steam Button to release bursts of steam, and it can emit steam even in a vertical position, allowing for steaming of hanging garments. Its dual-voltage functionality makes it suitable for international travel, adapting to different electrical standards.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: SF-707
  • Voltage: Dual-voltage, compatible with 100-127V and 220-240V electrical standards. The voltage is selected using a recessed Voltage Selector switch.
  • Water Tank Capacity: 1.7 oz. / 50 ml.
  • Temperature Control: Features a Temperature Control Dial with three heat settings: Low (Synthetics, Silks), Medium (Wool), and High (Cotton, Linen). The unit reaches at least 320°F (160°C) for steam ironing.
  • Heating Indicator Light: Illuminates when the unit is heating and cycles on and off to maintain the set temperature.
  • Plug: Polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) to reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • Accessories: Includes a Measuring Cup for filling the water tank.

Usage Features:

  • Filling Water Tank: For steam ironing, the water tank is filled with up to 1.7 oz. (50 ml) of water using the provided Measuring Cup. Distilled or de-mineralized water is highly recommended to minimize mineral build-up. The Water Tank Cap must be opened to fill and closed after filling. Water level can be monitored through the Water Tank Windows.
  • Dry Ironing:
    1. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet.
    2. Turn the Temperature Control Dial clockwise to the desired temperature setting (Low, Medium, or High). The Heating Indicator Light will illuminate.
    3. Once the Heating Indicator Light turns off, the Ironing Plate is heated and ready for use. The light will cycle on and off during use to maintain temperature.
    • Important: Do not add water to the unit for dry ironing.
  • Steam Ironing:
    1. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet.
    2. Turn the Temperature Control Dial clockwise to at least 320°F (160°C). Lower settings may cause water to drip. The Heating Indicator Light will illuminate.
    3. When the Heating Indicator Light turns off, the unit is ready to steam.
    4. Pump the Steam Button to release bursts of steam. The button may need to be pressed several times initially to prime the pump and start steaming.
    • Vertical Steam: Steam can be emitted from the unit in a vertical position, useful for hanging garments.
  • Voltage Selection: The Voltage Selector, located at the rear of the Main Body, allows switching between 100-127V (default) and 220-240V. A fine-tipped tool (like a pen) is used to slide the selector. It is crucial to select the correct voltage for the location before plugging in the unit.
  • Safety: The iron should always be turned OFF and unplugged when not in use, before filling/emptying the water tank, or before storing. Close supervision is required when used near children, pets, and plants. Do not leave unattended while plugged in or on an ironing board. Do not touch the Ironing Plate while in use.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    1. Turn the Temperature Control Dial to the Off position and unplug the power cord.
    2. Prop the unit upright on its Stands and allow the Ironing Plate to cool completely for at least 30 minutes.
    3. Open the Water Tank Cap and drain any remaining water into a sink or tub, then close the cap.
    4. Wipe the Main Body and Ironing Plate with a soft cloth lightly moistened with water.
    • Important: DO NOT clean the Ironing Plate with detergents, descalers, abrasive, or corrosive products. DO NOT submerge the unit or hold it under running water.
  • Mineral Build-Up Removal:
    1. Follow cleaning steps 1-3, but leave the Water Tank Cap open.
    2. Prepare a mixture of 0.5 oz. distilled water and 0.5 oz. vinegar.
    3. Pour the water-vinegar solution into the Water Tank using the Measuring Cup, then close the cap.
    4. Follow the normal steam ironing procedure to steam out the full contents of the tank.
    5. Unplug the unit and allow it to cool for 5 minutes.
    6. Refill the Water Tank with fresh distilled water and repeat the steaming process until the vinegar odor dissipates.
  • Storage: After cleaning and cooling, store the iron in a cool, dry location. Always allow the iron to cool completely (at least 30 minutes) before storing, propping it upright on its Stands to prevent heat damage to surfaces.
