Overview

The Steelmate 886 motorcycle alarm system is a comprehensive security solution designed to protect motorcycles from theft and provide various convenience features. This system is the result of extensive experience and advanced engineering, ensuring high quality, reliability, and excellent performance. It is recommended that the system be installed by an authorized dealer to guarantee proper setup and functionality.

Function Description

The core function of the system is to provide robust security against theft. When armed, the system monitors the motorcycle for any unauthorized access or movement. If triggered, it will alert the owner through a series of audible and visual warnings. The system offers both standard arming with sound and a mute arming option for discreet operation.

In standard arming mode, pressing the arm button once puts the motorcycle into alarm mode. If the system is triggered for the first time, it will emit three beeps, and the indicators will flash. If triggered a second time within 15 seconds, the siren will chirp sharply for 15 seconds, and the engine will be immobilized, preventing the motorcycle from being started. For mute arming, pressing the mute button will arm the system without audible alerts. Instead, the indicators will flash three times upon the first trigger and for 15 seconds upon a second trigger within 15 seconds, with the engine also immobilized.

A crucial security feature is the anti-hijacking function. During driving, pressing the anti-hijacking button for two seconds will cause the siren to chirp sharply, the indicators to flash, and the engine to be immobilized, effectively stopping the motorcycle. This function can be deactivated by pressing the anti-hijacking button again.

The system also includes an emergency aid feature. If the system is in arming mode and the ignition key is turned to the ACC ON position, the siren will alarm sharply, the indicators will flash, and the engine will be immobilized. Pressing the disarm button will stop the alarming.

For convenience, the system offers a "locating car" function. In arming mode, pressing the locate button for one second will make the siren chirp for 10 seconds, and the direction lights will flash simultaneously, helping the owner find their motorcycle in a parking lot.

The system also provides a disarming mode warning. Approximately 10 seconds after the motorcycle has been locked, three beeps will be emitted, and the indicators will flash, reminding the user to arm the system.

Remote engine stop is another useful feature, allowing the user to immobilize the engine by pressing the engine stop button once.

An optional LED indicator provides continuous visual feedback when the system is in arming mode, flashing to signify active security.

Usage Features

Operating the Steelmate 886 system is straightforward, primarily using the remote control. To arm the motorcycle, press the arm button once. For mute arming, press the mute button. To disarm the motorcycle or stop the engine, press the disarm button. The system has a disarming and rearming logic. If the motorcycle hasn't been touched or the engine hasn't started within 30 seconds after disarming, the system assumes a wrong operation and automatically re-arms. Pressing the disarm button again will fully disarm the system. The anti-hijacking function is activated by pressing its dedicated button for two seconds while driving. The car locating function is activated by pressing the locate button for one second while the system is armed.

The system supports code learning for new transmitters. To program new transmitters, press the learning button on the control box for two seconds. The LED light will turn on for 10 seconds. Within this window, press any button on the first transmitter, then any button on the second transmitter within 10 seconds. The system supports up to two functional transmitters.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliability of the alarm system. It is crucial to protect the transmitter from heavy impact to prevent damage. The remote control distance may shorten, or the transmitter's light may dim over time. These are indicators that the battery needs to be replaced. Ensure the correct battery polarity when replacing. The system uses a 12V 27A battery. The alarm system is designed to reduce the possibility of theft and provide warnings. While it enhances security, it is not an absolute guarantee against all forms of theft. If you need to cancel former transmitters, press the learning button on the control box for 10 seconds. This will clear all previously learned transmitters, allowing you to reprogram them if needed.

The warranty covers repairs or replacements with a comparable reconditioned model for 12 months from the date of purchase, provided the system was professionally installed and serviced by an authorized Steelmate dealer, and returned with the bill of sale. The warranty does not cover damage from incorrect installation, anomalies in the motorcycle's electrical system, environmental factors, accident, improper use, water damage, excess voltage, misuse, or unauthorized repairs or alterations. Expendable parts like the battery are also not covered. Dispose of batteries according to instructions to prevent environmental harm and explosion risks.
