If engine is cold
: Turn the choke knob to l
If engine is warm
: Turn the choke knob to n
Also use this position if the engine
has been running but is still cold.
: Put the machine on the ground.
Check that bystanders are well clear
of the general work area and the
nozzle.
: Make sure you have a firm footing:
Hold the machine firmly with your
left hand on the housing and put one
foot against the base to prevent it
slipping.
: Pull the starter grip slowly with your
right hand until you feel it engage
and then give it a brisk strong pull.
Do not pull out the starter rope all
the way – it might otherwise break.
: Do not let the starter grip snap back.
Guide it slowly back into the housing
so that the starter rope can rewind
properly.
: Continue cranking until the engine
fires – turn the choke knob to n
after no more than three pulls.
