What to do if my Stihl BR 800 Blower engine does not start?
    • P
      Patrick MatthewsAug 20, 2025
If your Stihl Blower engine does not start, and an MDG 1 analyzer is available, create a diagnostic report and test the blower with it. If not, try replacing the carburetor. Also, if the fuel system is leaking, replace the fuel hoses. Clean the cable lugs on the wiring harness and the screws on the cylinder. Note that if the spark plug is damp, you should consult section 4.

    • G
      gonzalesjohnAug 26, 2025
If your Stihl Blower engine does not run or runs erratically, with misfiring and sporadic loss of power, you can create a diagnostic report and test the blower with an MDG 1 analyzer if available. Otherwise, try installing a correct spark plug. If the spark plug is sooted or smeared with oil, clean or replace it. Ensure the spark plug electrode gap is correctly set. If the spark plug boot is damaged, replace it. Also, push the connector of the wiring harness’ black wire firmly into place. If the black wire of the wiring harness is chafed, replace the throttle cable with wiring harness. Consider replacing the ignition lead or the flywheel if damaged. Finally, check the decompression system; if damaged, install a new cam gear.

      Cody MunozSep 3, 2025
If the starter rope on your Stihl Blower is difficult to pull or rewinds very slowly, it could be due to the windings of the rewind spring sticking together. To resolve this, coat the rewind spring with a standard solvent-based degreasant containing no chlorinated or halogenated hydrocarbons, and then pull the starter rope several times until normal action is restored.
