Smoke or burning
smell while cutting.
The saw chain has
not been correctly
sharpened.
► Sharpen chain as specified.
Insufficient saw chain
oil in the oil tank.
► Fill up with saw chain oil.
The saw chain is
over-tensioned.
► Tension the saw chain as specified.
The chainsaw is not
being used properly.
► Have correct use explained, then practice.
18.2 Adjust to standard setting
► Shut off the engine and engage the chain
brake.
► Turn the high speed screw H counterclockwise
as far as it will go.
► Turn the low speed screw L clockwise as far
as it will go.
► Turn the low speed screw L 1/4 of a turn coun‐
terclockwise.
18.3 Adjust idle speed
The Engine stops while idling
► Adjust to standard setting.
► Start the engine and release the chain brake.
► Warm up the engine by opening and closing
the throttle for about 1 minute.
► If the engine continues to stop while idling:
Turn the idle speed screw LA 1/2 turns clock‐
wise and start the engine up again.
► Turn the idle speed screw LA clockwise until
the saw chain begins to run.
► Turn the LA idle speed screw 1.5 turns coun‐
terclockwise.
