The Stiltz Duo+ Homelift is a domestic personal lift designed to make life easier, safer, and more comfortable for users. It complies with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and is intended for the exclusive purpose of transporting individuals between designated floors in a home.
Function Description
The Stiltz Duo+ Homelift is a motorized lift system that travels vertically between two guide rails through an aperture created in the home. It is a non-automatic lift, meaning the user must maintain constant pressure on the control button to operate it. The lift can serve floors up to 6.0m apart and offers either a single car entry point or a double entry ThruCar configuration.
Important Technical Specifications
- Rated Capacity: 170kg
- Compliance: Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EEC. It can also be ordered to comply with BS EN 81-41:2010.
- Power Supply: Equipped with an emergency power supply that activates automatically in case of a power failure. This allows the lift to be moved down to the lower floor using normal controls. The emergency power supply must remain charged, so the lift's power plug should never be disconnected from the mains.
- Operational Temperature: The ambient operational temperature should not fall below 5°C.
- Environment: Designed for indoor use only.
Usage Features
The lift is operated via a Car Operating Panel (COP) inside the car and remote controls.
COP Inside the Lift Car:
- Emergency Stop Button: Immediately stops the lift and triggers an alarm when pressed. Should only be used in extreme situations.
- Up/Down Buttons: For selecting the desired direction of travel.
- On and Off Key: Used to turn the lift on/off and reset controls after an emergency stop.
- LED Display Lights: Provide visual feedback on the lift's status:
- LED1 (Ready): Indicates the lift is ready for operation.
- LED2 (Door Open): Flashes if the door is not completely closed.
- LED3 (Light Curtain): Flashes if the safety light curtain is obstructed.
- LED4 (Shaft Lid): Flashes if the shaft lid is obstructed.
- LED5 (Safety Pan): Flashes if the safety pan is obstructed.
- LED6 (Up/Down Limit Reached): Indicates the lift has reached its travel limit.
- LED7 (Overload): Flashes if the lift is overloaded.
- LED8 (No Power): Flashes if the main power is off.
- Audible Buzzer: Accompanies flashing lights for certain alerts.
- Phone Handset: Located underneath the COP for immediate contact in case of emergency.
Remote Control:
- Two remote controls allow users to call the lift from either floor.
- Press and hold the call button until the lift reaches the desired floor. Releasing the button stops the lift.
General Operation:
- Entering: Lights turn on automatically. Stand or sit facing the opening.
- Closing Door: Ensure the door is closed and the safety light curtain is not obstructed. The lift will not travel if obstructed.
- Load Check: The lift will not move if overloaded (above 170kg); the overload light will illuminate.
- Passenger/Item Containment: Ensure all passengers and items are fully contained within the car.
- Travel: Depress and hold the appropriate Up/Down button until the lift stops at its destination. Release the button to stop the lift at any time.
- Safety: If an unsafe situation occurs, release the button and either wait or return to the starting floor.
Safety Features
The lift is equipped with numerous safety features to prevent movement in case of malfunction or obstruction:
- Safety Shaft Lid and Safety Pan: Sensors stop the lift immediately if the car roof (Shaft Lid) or car floor (Safety Pan) contacts an obstacle. The lift can only proceed in the opposite direction once the obstruction is cleared.
- Locking Mechanism: Ensures the lift car door remains closed during travel. Sensors verify the door is closed before movement. A key is provided for emergency door opening.
- Light Curtain: Creates a barrier across the entrance, preventing or stopping movement if obstructed.
- Additional Safety Sensors:
- Balance Sensors: Stop the lift if there's a problem with the lift ropes.
- Overload Sensors: Prevent movement if the lift is overloaded.
- Slack Rope Sensor: Detects slack in the lift ropes and prevents further travel.
- Auxiliary Limit Switches: Backup switches located above and beneath the car, designed to stop the lift in an emergency if regular limit switches fail. These require a service technician to reset.
- Emergency Stop Button: Stops the lift immediately and triggers an alarm.
- Safety Brake, Motor, and Gear Brake: An integrated brake system stops the lift immediately in the event of rope-related issues or hoist rope failure. These features require a Stiltz Homelift service technician to disengage and reset.
- Emergency Power Supply: Activates automatically during power failure, allowing the lift to descend to the lower floor. All safety features remain operational.
Maintenance Features
- Regular Maintenance: Annual maintenance is recommended to ensure continued safety and long-term reliability.
- Authorized Service: All installation, disassembly, and service work must be carried out by an authorized Stiltz service technician.
- Warranty Agreement: Optional regular warranty agreements are available to extend the life of the lift.
- Troubleshooting: The user manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues, often resolvable by the user. If issues persist after following instructions and resetting with the key switch, contact Stiltz or an authorized dealer.
- Cleaning Instructions:
- General: Lightly dust the lift car and rails regularly with a dry duster or cloth. Wipe over the door, car walls, and user controls to keep them clean.
- Environment: Keep the area around the lift clean and vacuumed to reduce debris, dirt, and dust.
- Cleaning Products: Never use solvents, bleach, or other harsh home cleaning products. Use a dry microfibre-type cloth to gently remove dirt or dust.
- Professional Cleaning: If the lift is in an environment requiring more than standard domestic cleaning, additional services by a qualified service engineer should be considered.
