Overview

The BLAT Modular rack system, manufactured by Spire LLC (d/b/a StoreYourBoard) and proudly designed in Virginia, USA, is a robust and versatile storage solution intended for organizing tools and equipment. This modular system is designed to be mounted to a wall stud, ensuring structural integrity and maximizing storage capacity.

Function Description:

The BLAT Modular rack serves as a wall-mounted storage system for various tools and equipment. Its modular design allows for customization and expansion based on the user's storage needs. The system consists of multiple backplates that are secured to wall studs, onto which various attachments can be slid and tightened. This design enables users to create a tailored storage setup for their garage, workshop, or other spaces. The primary function is to keep items organized and off the floor, thereby decluttering the space and making tools easily accessible.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Quantity: The kit includes a quantity of 1 BLAT Modular system, with component quantities varying based on the specific kit ordered.
  • Weight Capacity: Each backplate (A) has a maximum capacity of 150 lbs. Each attachment (F) has a maximum capacity of 30 lbs. The total system capacity is 150 lbs per section. Overloading the system can lead to property damage or injury.
  • Mounting: The system is designed to be mounted to wall studs, ideally spaced 16 inches apart. If studs are not 16 inches apart, a 2" x 4" can be screwed into the studs to provide a mounting surface for the system.
  • Components:
    • Backplate (A): Available in quantities of 2, 3, or 4, these are the main structural components that attach to the wall.
    • Aluminum Washer (B): Available in quantities of 3, 4, or 5, these washers secure the backplates to the wall.
    • Lag Screw (C): 1/4" x 2.5" screws, available in quantities of 3, 4, or 5, used to fasten the system to wall studs.
    • Washer (D): 1/4" washers, available in quantities of 3, 4, or 5, used with the lag screws.
    • Thumbscrew (E): Available in quantities of 8, 10, or 12, these are used to secure attachments to the backplates.
    • Attachment (F): Available in quantities of 8, 10, or 12, these are the hooks or holders that slide onto the backplates to store items.
  • Age Restriction: The BLAT Modular is NOT intended for use by any person under the age of 18 years old. Users must be over the age of 18 to install or use the rack.

Usage Features:

  • Modular Design: The system's modularity allows users to add or remove backplates and attachments as their storage needs evolve. This flexibility makes it adaptable to various spaces and types of equipment.
  • Easy Installation: The installation process involves locating wall studs, drilling pilot holes, and securing the backplates with lag screws and aluminum washers. Attachments then slide into place and are secured with thumbscrews. A full installation video is available via QR code for guidance.
  • Adjustable Attachments: Attachments can be easily positioned along the backplates. By slightly loosening the thumbscrew, an attachment can be repositioned and then retightened for optimal placement.
  • Leveling Adjustments: During installation, the backplates can be adjusted to ensure they are parallel to the ground, providing a neat and functional appearance. The aluminum washer and backplate design allow for minor adjustments before final tightening.
  • Safety Guidelines: The manual emphasizes strict adherence to all instructions to prevent accidents, property damage, personal injury, or death. It explicitly warns against human suspension and overloading the system. Users are advised to ensure the area below the object is clear when operating the system.
  • Required Tools: Installation requires a drill/driver, drill bits (3/16"), a 12mm socket/driver, a level, a tape measure, a pencil, and a stud finder.

Maintenance Features:

  • Periodic Tightness Checks: Users are advised to periodically check the tightness of all bolts and screws, especially the lag screws, and re-tighten them if necessary. This ensures the system remains secure and in proper working condition.
  • Structural Integrity: It is the consumer's responsibility to ensure the structural integrity of the mounting surface (wall studs).
  • Proper Use: The system is intended for the storage of tools and equipment only. Misuse or inadequate maintenance can lead to damage or injury.
  • Cleaning: While not explicitly detailed, general cleaning of the rack components would contribute to its longevity and appearance.

Important Warnings and Disclaimers:

  • Read Entire Manual: Users must read the entire user manual before installation. If any portion is not understood, installation should not be attempted, and StoreYourBoard should be contacted.
  • Tool Safety: Procedures may involve ladders and power tools. Users must be familiar with these tools and their safety procedures. Awareness of electrical wires during installation is crucial to prevent electrical shock.
  • Local Regulations: Installation must comply with all local codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Disclaimer: Spire LLC (d/b/a StoreYourBoard) disclaims all liability for personal injury, property damage, or loss resulting from incorrect mounting, improper use, inadequate maintenance, or neglect of the system.
