This document describes the Style Selections Lighted 5-Tier Fountain, Model #AD93341 (Item #0735679). It is a decorative outdoor (and potentially indoor) water feature designed to create a cascading water effect with integrated lighting.
Function Description:
The fountain is a multi-tiered water feature with five levels, designed to circulate water from a pump at the base to the top tier, allowing it to flow down through successive bowls. Integrated LED lights enhance the visual appeal, especially during evening hours. The primary function is to provide an aesthetic and calming water element for a garden, patio, or indoor space.
Important Technical Specifications:
The fountain consists of several key components:
- Fountain (A): The main multi-tiered structure.
- Top with tubing (B): The uppermost tier, which includes pre-installed tubing for water circulation.
- Pump (C): The submersible pump responsible for circulating water.
- Diverter (D): A pre-installed component that directs water flow.
- LED light (E): Five pre-installed LED lights, one for each tier.
- 5-1 connector (F): A pre-installed connector for the LED lights.
- Power cable (G): The main power cord.
- Transformer (H): Converts household electricity to a suitable voltage for the fountain's components.
The assembly process involves:
- Aligning and lowering the top with tubing (B) onto the main fountain structure (A), ensuring water will spill into the next bowl.
- Connecting the tubing from the top (B) to the diverter (D), and then connecting the diverter (D) to the pump (C). The pump (C) is placed inside the fountain (A).
- Connecting the power cable from the top with tubing (B) to the 5-1 connector (F), and then connecting the power cable (G) to the transformer (H).
- Draping the 5-1 connector (F) out the rear of the fountain (A) and creating a drip loop with the cords from the pump (C) and LED light (E) to prevent water loss and ensure the connector (F) is not submerged. The fountain (A) is then filled with enough water to completely submerge the pump (C).
- Connecting the power cords to an electrical socket to operate the fountain.
Usage Features:
- Indoor/Outdoor Use: While primarily designed for outdoor use in spring, summer, and fall, the unit can be used indoors. However, caution is advised as moisture will be generated, potentially damaging hardwood floors or carpets. It should not be used in high-traffic areas indoors due to slippery surfaces.
- Easy Operation: Once assembled and filled with water, the fountain operates by plugging it into an electrical socket.
- Aesthetic Appeal: The 5-tier design and integrated LED lighting provide a visually appealing water feature.
- Water Circulation: The pump continuously circulates water, creating a soothing sound and visual effect.
Maintenance Features:
- Water Level Management: It is crucial to keep the fountain bowl 3/4 full of water to prevent the pump from burning out. The pump should always be fully submerged. Running the pump without sufficient water will void the warranty.
- Pump Priming: Before initial operation, the pump should be run in a bucket of water to prime it and ensure proper function.
- Electrical Safety: Always plug the pump into a grounded GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) receptacle. The power cord should hang lower than the wall plug socket to prevent water from reaching the outlet.
- Regular Cleaning: To ensure longevity and efficiency, the fountain and pump should be cleaned regularly. Hard water buildup on the impeller can reduce efficiency. The manual provides a diagram for pump disassembly for cleaning.
- Fountain Cleaning: The fountain works best and lasts longer with regular cleaning using a soft cloth and mild soap. Water should be changed often, and leaves and debris removed.
- Water Quality: Avoid using hard water if possible to reduce staining and paint discoloration. Using water additives like bactericides or chlorine can damage the paint surface and void the warranty.
- Paint Repair: Small chips or minor paint erosion can be repaired using commonly available hobby paints (not included) that match the existing finish.
- Winter Storage: In areas with harsh weather conditions, the product should be stored indoors during winter. Before storage, drain all water from the pump and store the fountain in a sheltered area.
Troubleshooting:
The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues:
- Pump fails to operate:
- Possible Causes: No power, not enough water, poor water flow, blockage in tubing or pump, or pump is "air locked."
- Corrective Actions: Check power connection, water level, flow control setting, clean pump/tubing, and plug/unplug the pump multiple times to clear air.
- General Coverage: The warranty covers severe or complete loss of color, disintegration, or deformation under normal use. It does not cover broken parts after purchase, modified units, misuse, improper installation, operation, or maintenance. For multi-part fountains, only the defective component is covered.
- Lighting and Solar Accessories: These are covered by a limited 90-day warranty from the date of purchase.
- Paint and Color Retention: The paint finish on decorative/visual parts will not peel (excluding the inside of the bowl/water reservoir, which is constantly submersed). The warranty protects against severe or full fading in the first year, as all finishes fade gradually over time.
- Disintegration, Warping, or Loss of Shape: Covers loss of original shape, severe cracking, or disintegration from sun/heat exposure. Fountain bowls and reservoirs will hold water without leaking. Small hairline cracks are considered normal.
- Exclusions: Damage due to accident, misuse, negligence, improper installation, modification, or other non-material/workmanship defects voids the warranty. This includes:
- Freezing Water Damage: Improper storage allowing water to freeze within the fountain, causing damage, is considered negligence and voids the warranty.
- Water Damage Causing Paint Problems: Using hard water or caustic cleaners, or failing to keep the unit clean, voids the warranty. Using water additives (bactericide, chlorine, etc.) that affect the paint surface also voids the warranty.
- No Coverage for Costs: The warranty does not cover installation, removal, shipping costs, or consequential damages related to any warranty claim.
- Disclaimer: The provided warranties are exclusive and replace all other express or implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. These implied warranties do not extend beyond the term of the express warranties provided.
