CHECKS AND WARNINGS
3E Checks
In the following test procedures and warnings perform the steps below when ever “3E Checks” are called for.
Disconnect from the power supply.1
Wedge the door open.2
Discharge the high voltage capacitor.3
4R Checks
In the following test procedures and warnings perform the steps below when ever “4R Checks” are called for.
Reconnect all leads removed from components during testing.1
Replace the outer case.2
Reconnect the power supply.3
Check for microwave energy by placing a cup of cold water in the microwave and heating on high for two4
minutes. Confirm the water is hot.
Discharging the High-Voltage Capacitor
The high-voltage capacitor remains charged about 60 seconds after the oven is switched off.
Wait 60 seconds and then short-circuit the connection of the high-voltage capacitor (the connecting lead of the
high-voltage rectifier) against the microwave chassis with an insulated screwdriver.
Troubleshooting with Energized Circuits
Troubleshooting with the power supply disconnected whenever possible. In some cases, it may be necessary to
connect the power supply after the outer case has been removed. To perform the troubleshooting safely:
Perform 3E Checks (page 4-2)1
Disconnect the wires to the primary side of the power transformer2
Isolate the primary side wires from other components and the oven chassis3
When the testing is completed, perform 3E Checks then reconnect the wires to the primary side of the power
transformer.
