Overview

This document outlines the procedure for programming and troubleshooting Sunstream Boat Lifts remote controls, specifically addressing two models: RC306 and RC308. It provides instructions for pairing handheld remotes with the base unit and offers solutions for common pairing issues.

Sunstream RC306 Remote Control System

The RC306 system is designed for Sunstream Boat Lifts and uses a handheld remote with two blue up/down buttons and one additional button. The base unit is located inside a white PowerPack box.

Function Description:

The primary function of the RC306 system is to wirelessly control the up and down movement of a boat lift. The handheld remote transmits signals to the base unit, which then activates the lift's hydraulic system.

Usage Features:

  • Pairing Procedure:
    1. Ensure the main 12V Deep Cycle battery powering the lift is strong.
    2. Locate the red button on the side of the base unit (inside the white PowerPack box).
    3. Press and release this red button.
    4. Within a short timeframe, press the blue 'up' button on the handheld remote control 3-4 times. The 4th press should activate the lift, indicating successful pairing.
  • Multiple Remotes: The pairing procedure must be repeated for each remote control intended for use with the same base unit.
  • Clearing All Handhelds: If a handheld controls more than one lift simultaneously, or if you need to clear all paired remotes from a specific lift, press and hold the red button on the side of the base unit for 15 seconds. This action will clear all existing pairings for that lift, after which individual handhelds can be reprogrammed using the standard Step #1 procedure.
  • Troubleshooting: If the handheld fails to pair after a couple of attempts, it may indicate a fault. In such cases, contacting the provider for a replacement, potentially covered under warranty, is recommended. The base unit's up/down controls should remain functional even if the handhelds are not paired.
  • Newer Systems: For lifts less than 1 year old with different-looking handhelds and base units, users are directed to Section 2 of the manual, which likely pertains to the RC308 or a similar newer model.

Important Technical Specifications (Implied):

  • Power Source: Requires a strong 12V Deep Cycle battery for the base unit.
  • Control Interface: Handheld remote with two blue up/down buttons and one additional button.
  • Base Unit Location: Inside a white PowerPack box.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Check: Regularly ensure the main 12V Deep Cycle battery is strong to prevent pairing issues.
  • Warranty: Replacements for faulty units may be covered under warranty if the troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue.

Sunstream RC308 Remote Control System

The RC308 system is identified by a specific base remote control unit design, typically found inside a white hydraulic box. This model has a known issue where it can lose pairing with the handheld remote.

Function Description:

Similar to the RC306, the RC308 system enables wireless control of a boat lift's up and down movement via a handheld remote. The base unit receives signals from the remote to operate the lift.

Usage Features:

  • Pairing Procedure (for RC308):
    1. Identify the base remote control unit by its appearance (as pictured in the manual) inside the white hydraulic box.
    2. Locate the RED program button on the base unit.
    3. Press and release the RED program button.
    4. Immediately after, press and release the UP button on the handheld unit 4 or more times. The 4th press should activate the lift, confirming successful re-pairing.
  • Troubleshooting & Warranty Replacement:
    • The provided re-pairing procedure is effective 9 out of 10 times for restoring functionality. If pairing is lost again, simply repeat the process.
    • If the handheld fails to pair after multiple attempts (approximately 1 out of 10 cases), it indicates a persistent issue. In such instances, users should continue to operate the lift using the base unit's controls.
    • Sunstream will replace faulty RC308 units with a new RC400 model under warranty. Users are encouraged to notify the provider if the handheld cannot be paired, as this will prioritize the unit replacement.
  • Temporary Solution: The re-pairing procedure serves as a temporary solution to allow continued use of the lift until an RC400 replacement can be provided.

Important Technical Specifications (Implied):

  • Base Unit Location: Inside a white hydraulic box.
  • Control Interface: Handheld remote with UP, DN, and AUX buttons, and a LIGHT function.
  • Known Issue: Prone to losing pairing with the handheld remote.

Maintenance Features:

  • Warranty Replacement: The RC308 is eligible for a warranty replacement with an RC400 if persistent pairing issues occur.
  • Prioritized Replacement: Reporting an inability to pair the handheld will expedite the replacement process.

General Notes for Both Systems:

  • The manual emphasizes the importance of a strong 12V Deep Cycle battery for the base unit's operation.
  • Both systems provide troubleshooting steps for common pairing issues, with a focus on self-resolution before resorting to warranty claims.
  • The base unit's manual controls are expected to remain functional even if the handheld remote is not paired or is faulty.
  • The document serves as a guide for users to manage their boat lift remote control systems effectively, ensuring continued operation and addressing common problems.
