Overview

This document outlines the assembly, usage, and maintenance instructions for a Sunvilla Firepit Table, model FHWA10359H. Designed for outdoor, non-commercial use, this appliance serves as a decorative gas fire pit, providing warmth and ambiance. It is crucial to read and understand the entire manual before attempting to assemble, install, or operate the product to ensure safety and proper function.

Function Description

The Sunvilla Firepit Table is an outdoor decorative gas appliance that utilizes either liquid propane (LP) or natural gas (NG) to produce a flame within a burner area, which is typically covered with decorative glass beads. Its primary function is to provide an outdoor heating and aesthetic element, creating a focal point for patios or other outdoor living spaces. The fire pit is not intended for cooking or burning any materials other than those supplied or specified for use with the appliance. It features a control panel with an ignition module for easy lighting and flame adjustment, and a dedicated compartment for a 20 LB propane tank (if using LP gas). A cover is provided to protect the burner area when the fire pit is not in use and has cooled down.

Usage Features

The fire pit table is designed for straightforward operation, emphasizing safety at every step.

  • Assembly: The assembly process involves attaching the table bases to the tabletop using provided hardware and tools. Once the main structure is assembled, decorative glass beads are spread evenly over the burner area, ensuring they do not obstruct the spark igniter.
  • Gas Connection (LP Gas): For LP gas models, a 20 LB propane tank (not included) is placed inside the table base and secured with a locking knob. The regulator hose is then connected to the propane tank by turning the knob clockwise until secure. It's important to ensure the regulator is properly connected and, when disconnected, can be hung on a clamp for storage.
  • Battery Installation: The ignition module requires one AAA battery (included). The control knob must be in the "o" (off) position before unscrewing the push-button cap on the ignition module to access the battery compartment. The battery should be inserted correctly, with the negative side going in first.
  • Lighting Procedure: To ignite the fire pit, the propane tank valve is opened by rotating it counterclockwise. The control knob is then slightly pushed in and rotated to the "" (on) position while simultaneously pressing the igniter button. This action creates sparks to light the gas. The igniter button should be held for approximately 20 seconds to allow gas to flow and ensure stable ignition. If ignition does not occur within 20 seconds, the control knob should be turned to "O" (off), and a 5-minute waiting period should be observed before attempting to relight. If the igniter fails, a long lit match or butane lighter can be used near the pilot housing while pushing and turning the control knob to "on."
  • Flame Adjustment: After ignition, the control knob can be rotated counterclockwise to adjust the flame to the desired height.
  • Turning Off: To turn off the fire pit, the LP gas tank valve is first turned to "CLOSED" (clockwise), followed by turning the control knob to the "O" (off) position. A "poof" sound as the last of the gas burns is normal.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual strongly emphasizes several safety points: never leave the fire pit unattended during operation, keep children and flammable materials away, do not use for cooking, do not burn solid fuels, and always ensure adequate ventilation. It also warns against using the fire pit if any part has been submerged in water or if there are gas leaks.
  • Storage: After use and once the glass beads have cooled, the protective cover (D) should be placed over the burner. For indoor storage, the 20 LB Propane Tank must be disconnected and removed from the table. For outdoor storage, the included cover should be used to protect against weather.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the safe and efficient operation and longevity of the Sunvilla Firepit Table.

  • General Cleaning: The fire pit table should be kept clean, especially the control compartment, burners, and circulating air passageways. The tabletop can be cleaned periodically with plain water to remove dust and dirt. For more thorough cleaning, a mild detergent mixed with water and a soft cloth or sponge can be used. It's crucial to dry the tabletop immediately after cleaning to prevent moisture penetration and water spots.
  • Burner Assembly Inspection: Annually, or more frequently if needed, the decorative glass and burner should be removed and inspected. Vacuuming and wiping out these areas are recommended. The burner assembly should be checked for warping, corrosion, plugged ports, or deterioration. Any damaged burner parts should be replaced.
  • Hose and Connections Check: The hose connecting the LP gas cylinder should be checked for damage, abrasion, or wear prior to each use. If damaged, it must be replaced with a manufacturer-specified hose assembly. All gas connections should be verified for tightness and leak-free operation using a commercially available leak-check solution.
  • Air Shutter and Orifice Inspection: The air shutter area should be kept clean and free of dust and debris, and its position should be correct for the gas type being used. The orifice should be inspected for soot, dirt, or corrosion.
  • Manifold and Inlet Pressure Verification: Manifold and inlet pressures should be verified, and the regulator adjusted as required.
  • Glass Media Care: The decorative glass beads may have sharp edges, so safety glasses and gloves should be worn when handling. It is normal for glass beads to crack or split over time due to high temperatures. Any glass beads that pop out during the initial 20 minutes of use should be discarded.
  • Tabletop Maintenance (Porcelain Stone Tile): The stone tabletop is factory-coated with a protective sealant. For optimum protection, it should be resealed every 6 to 12 months after thorough cleaning. Place mats, table runners, and beverage coasters are recommended to prevent scratches, stains, and spills.
  • Tabletop Cleaning (Porcelain Stone Tile): Avoid ammonia-based cleaners, scouring creams, abrasive cleansers, vinegar cleaners, acid-based products, or alkaline-based products (like baking soda or borax) as they can damage or discolor the stone and break down the sealant. Spills should be cleaned immediately.
  • Cold Climate Care: In cold climates, the stone top should be stored in a dry area or covered with a suitable outdoor furniture cover, creating a "tent" to promote airflow and prevent moisture buildup. Prolonged contact with snow can cause moisture to penetrate the sealant, potentially leading to cracks if the stone freezes. Resealing the tabletop before winter is recommended.
  • Hot Climate Care: The porous nature of stone makes it susceptible to heat retention. Caution should be exercised when handling a stone top exposed to lengthy sun. Using the product under a protective shade canopy is recommended.
  • Battery Removal: The battery should be removed from the ignition module when the fire pit is not in use for an extended period.

The manual also includes a troubleshooting guide to address common issues like the fire pit not lighting, low flames, metallic noises, or cracking glass beads, providing corrective actions for each scenario.
