Why does my Superior Gas Heater keep shutting off?
    • R
      Ralph Miller Jr.Sep 9, 2025
If your Superior Gas Heater shuts off while in use, and the ODS is operating, it could be due to a few reasons. First, ensure enough fresh air is available by opening a window or door for ventilation. Another possibility is low line pressure, in which case you should contact your local gas company. Lastly, the ODS/pilot might be partially clogged, requiring cleaning.

Why does my Superior STANDARD shut off while in use?
    • R
      Rhonda GibbsAug 23, 2025
Your Superior Gas Heater might shut off during use because not enough fresh air is available, there's low line pressure, or the ODS/pilot is partially clogged. Try opening a window or door for ventilation. If that doesn't work, contact your local gas company to check the line pressure. Also, consider cleaning the ODS/pilot.

What to do if Superior Gas Heater burner does not light after ODS/pilot is lit?
    • G
      Gary RobinsonAug 25, 2025
If the burner on your Superior Gas Heater doesn't light after the ODS/pilot is lit, the burner orifice might be clogged or the burner orifice diameter might be too small, or the inlet gas pressure is too low. Try cleaning the burner or replacing the burner orifice. If that doesn't resolve the issue, contact your local gas company to check the inlet gas pressure.

Why Superior Gas Heater ODS/pilot lights, but flame goes out when control knob is released?
    • C
      Chad OneillAug 27, 2025
If the ODS/pilot lights but the flame goes out when you release the control knob on your Superior Gas Heater, make sure the control knob is fully pressed in and held for at least 30 seconds after the pilot lights. Also, ensure the manual shut-off valve is fully open. Check if the thermocouple connection is loose at the control valve, and hand tighten it until it's snug, then give it an additional 1/4 turn. If the issue persists, the thermocouple may be damaged and require replacement, or the control valve itself may be damaged and need replacing.

    • T
      tracythomasAug 27, 2025
If your Superior Gas Heater experiences a delayed ignition of the burner, it could be due to low manifold pressure or a clogged burner orifice. Contact your local gas company to check the manifold pressure. Additionally, try cleaning the burner or replacing the burner orifice.

Why is my new Superior Gas Heater smoking?
    • O
      ograntSep 22, 2025
A slight smoke or odor during the initial operation of your Superior Gas Heater is often due to vapors from paint or the curing process of the logs. This problem should stop after a few hours of operation. It is recommended to run the heater with excessive ventilation for the first few hours. It can also be caused by turning the control knob to the 'HI' position when the burner is cold; turn the control knob to the 'LO' position and let it warm up for a minute. Another cause can be air in the gas line. Operate the burner until the air is removed from the line, and have the gas line checked by your local gas company.
  • M
    Michelle AndersonSep 16, 2025
Why is my Superior STANDARD burner backfiring?
    • J
      Jared YatesSep 16, 2025
If your Superior Gas Heater's burner is backfiring during combustion, the burner orifice may be clogged or damaged; clean the burner or replace the burner orifice. The burner itself could also be damaged, requiring replacement. In some cases, a defective gas regulator can cause this issue; replace the gas regulator.

    Jennifer JacobsonSep 18, 2025
Why is there a delay when my Superior Gas Heater burner ignites?
    • J
      James EdwardsSep 18, 2025
If the ignition of the burner in your Superior Gas Heater is delayed, it could be due to low manifold pressure, in which case you should contact your local gas company. Another possible cause is a clogged burner orifice; clean the burner or replace the burner orifice.

What to do if I smell gas from my Superior STANDARD when it's off?
    • C
      Christopher HughesSep 7, 2025
If you smell gas even when your Superior Gas Heater's control knob is in the 'OFF' position, it could be due to a gas leak. Locate and correct all leaks to solve this issue. Alternatively, the control valve might be defective and require replacement.

What to do if there is spark at ODS/pilot, but no ignition in Superior STANDARD Gas Heater?
    • W
      whernandezSep 4, 2025
If there is a spark at the ODS/pilot, but no ignition in your Superior Gas Heater, make sure the gas supply is turned on and the manual shut-off valve is open. Ensure the control knob is in the 'PILOT' position and pressed in. If there's air in the gas lines from installation, continue holding down the control knob and repeat the igniting operation until the air is removed. Also, the ODS/pilot may be clogged, so replace the ODS/pilot assembly or get it serviced. Lastly, the gas regulator setting may not be correct, so replace the gas regulator.
