Measure Angles as Follows

Turn bezel to 270°, position compass parallel to surface, allow pointer to turn freely. Read angle at pointer.

Measuring Angles of Free Space or Calculating Height

Aim along base plate edge, read mirror angle at clinometer pointer. Use H = D tan α for conversion.
