Overview

The Suvie S020M is a multi-zone cooking and refrigeration appliance, often referred to as a "kitchen robot," designed to simplify meal preparation by automatically refrigerating and cooking ingredients. It features two independent cooking zones, allowing for different ingredients to be cooked simultaneously at varying temperatures. The appliance uses a water-based cooling method (refrigerant type R513a) to keep food cold, similar to a standard refrigerator, maintaining temperatures under 41°F (5°C) as per FDA safe storage guidelines. It is designed to refrigerate meals for up to one day prior to cooking.

Function Description:

The Suvie S020M offers a wide range of cooking functions, including:

  • Cool-to-Cook: This core function allows users to load ingredients in advance (e.g., in the morning or the night before) and schedule a meal to be ready at a specific time. Suvie refrigerates the food until it's time to cook, then automatically transitions to the cooking phase.
  • Frozen to Cook: This feature enables cooking directly from frozen ingredients in as little as 25 minutes, utilizing fast cooking speeds and a radiating heat element.
  • Sous Vide: Water-based cooking for perfectly cooked proteins at low temperatures for extended durations. Ingredients must be vacuum-sealed and submerged in water within the Suvie pan.
  • Slow Cook: Ideal for soups, stews, and short ribs, offering low and slow cooking for up to 12 hours.
  • Roast: High-temperature roasting for crispy vegetables and perfectly cooked meats, fish, and other proteins.
  • Bake: Uses even heat for cakes and gentler cooking, suitable for desserts.
  • Broil: A crisping function that uses top broiler heating elements to add a finish to meals. Users must be present to initiate the broil stage due to safety regulations.
  • Warm & Reheat: Gently reheats food and holds it at temperatures up to 140°F (60°C) for up to 4 hours.
  • Steam: Gently cooks fish, prepares vegetables without oil, or steams dumplings using a steam rack.
  • Egg Mode: With an optional egg tray, users can cook various egg breakfast options.

When paired with the optional Suvie Starch Cooker add-on, the appliance expands its capabilities to include:

  • Pasta Cooker: Automatically pre-heats, fills, cooks, and drains pasta to al dente perfection.
  • Perfect Rice: Automatically adds water and gently cooks various types of rice (white, brown, wild, jasmine, sushi).
  • Healthy Grains: Prepares ancient grains like quinoa, millet, buckwheat, farro, and barley, which typically have longer cooking times.

  • Tap Zone: For Suvie Smart Meals, a NFC chip on the meal card can be held to the Tap Zone on the appliance to automatically load recipes and cooking instructions.

  • Multi-Zone Cooking: The appliance supports independent cooking in its upper and lower zones, though some function combinations are restricted.
  • Water Reservoir: The reservoir needs to be filled with water for certain functions (refrigeration, sous vide, slow cook, steam, egg mode, warm & reheat). Suvie prompts the user when filling is required and uses only the necessary amount of water, which evaporates over time without needing to be drained. Distilled water is recommended.
  • Safety Features: Includes warnings about hot surfaces, steam, and the need for supervision around children. An anti-tip bracket is recommended for stability. Proteins must be removed from plastic packaging before broiling.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleanup: The Suvie uses steam during cooking, which aids in keeping the appliance clean. Spot cleaning can be done with a damp, non-abrasive cloth or sponge. The broiler lines are automatically steamed clean after each use.
  • Quick Rinse Cycle: A weekly quick rinse cycle is recommended and can be initiated via the Settings menu.
  • Descaling: Regular descaling of the water reservoir is necessary to remove mineral buildup from tap water. This process involves using a simple citric acid solution (1 tablespoon of powdered, food-grade citric acid) mixed with water in the reservoir, followed by a series of rinse cycles. Instructions guide users through placing the starch pan and drain tray, adding citric acid, and performing the rinse steps.
  • Reservoir Cleaning: The reservoir can be cleaned with citric acid solution, paper towels, and a brush (or chopstick/dowel wrapped in paper towel) to remove scale from the inside and the fill tube.
  • General Care: Unplug the appliance before cleaning and allow it to cool. Do not immerse the cord or plugs in water or other liquids. Avoid using metal scouring pads or alkaline-based cleaners like bleach. Ensure the broiler element and heater pad below the starch pan are clean after each use.
