• After removing the spring holder bolt 1 and spring, unlock the
ratchet mechanism 2 and push the push rod 3 all the way
into the cam chain tensioner.
NOTE:
Before installing the cam chain tensioner, turn the crankshaft clock-
wise to remove any cam chain slack between the crankshaft
sprocket and exhaust camshaft sprocket.
• Install a new gasket and the cam chain tensioner onto the cyl-
inder block as shown.
• Tighten the cam chain tensioner bolts to the specified torque.

• Insert the spring into the cam chain tensioner and tighten the
spring holder bolt 4 to the specified torque.

After installing the cam chain tensioner, check the cam
chain slack to make sure that the cam chain tensioner is
working properly.
• Recheck the camshaft position (cam timing).
• Install the cam chain guide 5 with the four bolts and tighten
them to the specified torque.

NOTE:
Be sure to face the arrow mark on the cam chain guide towards
the exhaust side.
