Overview

This document describes the Swan Stealth Smart Grill, model SP22140BLKN, a versatile electric grill designed for household use.

Function Description

The Swan Stealth Smart Grill is an electric grill that offers two primary modes of operation: Smart Mode (closed grill) and Griddle Mode (manual).

In Smart Mode, the grill automatically detects the thickness of the food and adjusts cooking time accordingly. Users can select from various presets for different food types, including Defrost, Bacon, Chicken, Ham, Steak, Fish, and Burger. The grill preheats and then guides the user through the cooking process with status bar lights indicating stages from PRE-HEATING to WELL DONE. For beef, it provides beeps for RARE, MEDIUM, and WELL DONE doneness levels. For other modes, it beeps only at WELL DONE. The cooking process stops automatically when the grill is opened. If no food is placed after preheating in Smart Mode, the appliance will automatically switch off after a few minutes.

In Griddle Mode, the appliance can be fully opened to a 180° flat position, transforming into a griddle. This mode is manual, meaning users must select the 'M' (manual) program. The grill will preheat to a set temperature, and then food can be added. Smart Mode features are not available when operating as a griddle.

The grill is designed for ease of use with an LED display and a control dial for selecting settings. It features upper and lower cooking plates, which are removable for cleaning, and a drip tray set to collect excess oil.

    • Do not immerse cord, plugs, or housing in water or other liquid.
    • Unplug when not in use, before putting on/taking off parts, and before cleaning.
    • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or hot surface.
    • Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug.
    • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
    • Do not use outdoors.
    • Ensure the worktop can withstand at least 60 degrees Celsius for extended periods. If in doubt, mount on a suitable wooden plinth.
    • Never cover the appliance with a towel or other material to allow heat and steam to escape freely, preventing fire hazards.
    • Use plastic heat-resistant spatulas to remove food to avoid damaging the non-stick coating.
    • The appliance is intended for household and similar applications (staff kitchen areas, farmhouses, hotels, motels, bed and breakfast environments).
    • Not intended to be operated by an external timer or remote-control system.
    • Children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, can use the appliance with supervision and instruction. 2. Removing Plates: Press the release buttons to take out the upper and lower cooking plates.
  3. Cleaning Plates: The cooking plates can be washed in warm soapy water. Dry them completely before returning them to the grill.
  4. Drip Trays: Remove the upper and lower drip trays (using gloves, as oil residues may be hot). Empty the drip tray into a heat-proof bowl. Rinse them in warm soapy water or in the top rack of the dishwasher. Dry thoroughly.
  5. Cleaning Exterior: Wipe other surfaces of the grill with a clean, damp cloth. Use a paper towel moistened with a little cooking oil to remove stubborn stains.
  6. Reassembly: Reassemble the plates and trays to the grill.
  7. General Cleaning Advice:
    • Do not immerse the appliance into water or other liquid.
    • Do not use harsh or abrasive cleansers, solvents, scourers, wire wool, or soap pads.
    • Ensure the grill is clean and dry before storing.
  8. Storage: Store the grill closed and in a flat position. It cannot be stored upright.
  9. Dishwasher Use: It is not recommended to put the cooking plates in the dishwasher, as it can significantly reduce the life of the non-stick coating.

Disposal of Unit

Appliances bearing the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol should not be disposed of with domestic rubbish. Old electrical and electronic appliances must be disposed of separately. Users are advised to visit www.recycle-more.co.uk or www.recyclenow.co.uk (for the UK) or www.weeeireland.ie (for Ireland) for information on recycling electrical items. The WEEE directive (August 2006) mandates that all electrical items be recycled rather than landfilled. Arrange to take the appliance to a local Civic Amenity site for recycling at the end of its life.
