reduction

“hissing”
when
playing
tapes.
It
increases
the
high
fre-
quency
region
when
recording
and
then
reduces
it
in
playback.
Use
the
same
system
during
playback
and
recording.
This
unit
has
Dolby
B
NR
which
reduces
noise
to
a
third.

manually

selecting
the
station's
frequency

they

preset

“TUNED”
is
displayed

a
radio
station

a
stereo
FM
broadcast
is
being

is
excessive
in
FM
Press
[FM
AUTO/MONO]
to
display
“MONO”.
This
mode
improves
sound
quality
if
reception
is
weak
for
some
reason
but
broadcasts
are
heard
in
monaural.
Press
[FM
AUTO/MONQ]
again
to
cancel
the
mode.
“MONO”
goes
out.
MONO
is
also
canceled
if
the
frequency
is
changed.
Turn
off
“MONO”
for
normal
listening.
Stereo
and
monaural
broadcasts
are
automatically
played
as
they
are
received.
Stations
can
be
preset
in
monaural.
Carry
out
presetting
manually
(™
page
1).
RDS
broadcasting
For
the
United
Kingdom,
Continental
Europe
and
Russia
This
unit
can
display
the
text
data
transmitted
by
the
radio
data
system
(RDS)
available
in
some
areas,
If
the
station
you
are
listening
to
is
transmitting
RDS
signals,
“RDS”
will
light
up
on
the
display.
Displaying
the
text
data
Press
[PS—DISP
MODE}
to
display
a
station
name.
Press
[DIiSP
MODE-PTY}
to
display
a
program
type.
Each
time
you
press
the
button:
Frequency
display3PS
or
PTY
display
RDS
displays
may
not
be
available
if
reception
is
poor.
"M.O.R
M"=“Middle
of
the
road
music”.
AM
allocation
settings
(For
areas
except
for
the
United
Kingdom,
Continental
Europe,
Russia,
Australia
and
N.Z.)
Each
country
allocates
broadcast
bands
according
to
their
particu-
lar
system.
By
adjusting
the
AM
allocation,
you
can
enable
the
tuner
to
receive
AM
broadcasts
allocated
in
10
kHz
steps.

Press
and
hold
[TUNER/BAND].
After
a
few
seconds
the
display
will
change
to
a
flashing
display
of
the
current
minimum
AM
frequency.
If
you
continue
to
hold
(TUNER/BAND]
down,
the
minimum
frequency
will
change.
Re-
lease
the
button
at
this
time.
To
return
to
the
original
frequency
indication,
repeat
above.
After
changing
the
allocation
setting,
the
frequencies
you
previous-
ly
preset
in
the
memory
will
be
cleared.
