8 CALIBRATING THE PRESSURE SENSOR
The PROVASET
2P testers have an aided procedure making it possible to calibrate the
pressure sensor.
WARNING: The calibration of the pressure sensor must be only carried out by skilled
personnel and using certified calibration instruments.
We recommend to carry out the sensor calibration at least once a year.
tecna srl offers you a periodical calibration service.
8.1 Calibration method
Connect a digital pressure gauge that is certified with at least 0.1% accuracy of the full scale
(2 bar for 2P2B00, 6 bar for 2P6B00 model) to the test connector "OUT".
During the calibration procedure, the pneumatic valves are closed.
Connect a controlled compressed air source - for instance a manual pump with adjusting
screw or an adjustable, stable and accurate pressure reducer - to the test connector "OUT"
and to the digital pressure gauge, in parallel.
WARNING: During the sensor calibration, never apply pressure values that are
higher than the full scale range not to damage the sensor.
With the calibration procedure, the device stores the analogue/digital conversion values of
the pressure transducer signal in two points:
- at pressure zero;
- at the programmed sample pressure.
The stored values (A/D points) will be used as constants for calculating the pressure that is
measured by the pressure transducer.
The "sample pressure" parameter can be programmed for the whole reading range, but it is
better to calibrate at a pressure of about 2/3 of the full scale.
NOTE: After having started up the tester, wait approximately 10 minutes to
stabilise thermal deviation before calibrating the tester.
