Overview

This document is the Owner's Manual for TECO Split-Type Room Air Conditioners, specifically models TWS-TSO26HFFT and TWS-TSO71HFFT. It provides comprehensive information on the safe operation, features, and maintenance of these units.

Function Description:

The TECO Split-Type Room Air Conditioner is designed to provide cooling, heating (for heat pump models), dehumidifying, and fan-only ventilation for indoor spaces. It operates by drawing in air, filtering it, and then cooling, heating, or dehumidifying it via a heat exchanger before circulating it back into the room. The unit offers various operating modes to suit different environmental conditions and user preferences.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific technical specifications like power consumption, cooling/heating capacity, and dimensions are not detailed in this manual, it does provide operational temperature ranges:

  • COOL Mode: Room Temperature >17°C, Outdoor Temperature -7°C to 43°C.
  • HEAT Mode: Room Temperature <30°C, Outdoor Temperature -7°C to 28°C.
  • DRY Mode: Room Temperature >6°C, Outdoor Temperature -7°C to 43°C.

The remote controller uses 2 LRO 3 AAA (1.5V) batteries. The unit's design and specifications are subject to change without prior notice for product improvement.

Usage Features:

Remote Controller:

The air conditioner is primarily controlled via a remote controller, which features a liquid crystal display showing various symbols for different modes and settings. Key buttons and their functions include:

  • TEMP UP (△) / TEMP DN (▽): Adjusts temperature or time settings.
  • ON/OFF: Starts or stops operation.
  • FAN: Selects fan speed (auto/low/mid/high).
  • TIMER: Sets auto-off or auto-on timer.
  • SLEEP: Activates the "SLEEP" function for comfortable nighttime operation.
  • ECO: In cooling mode, increases temperature by 2°C from the setting; in heating mode, decreases temperature by 2°C from the setting.
  • MODE: Selects operating mode (COOL, HEAT, DRY, FAN, FEEL).
  • TURBO: Activates "Super" function for rapid cooling (16°C, high fan speed) or heating (31°C, high fan speed).
  • SWING: Activates/deactivates movement of deflectors for airflow direction.
  • DISPLAY: Switches the LED display on/off.
  • MUTE: Activates/deactivates mute function.
  • I FEEL: Activates the "I Feel" function, where the remote control measures the temperature at its current location and sends this signal to the air conditioner to optimize the temperature around the user. This function operates for 2 hours and deactivates if the temperature exceeds 0~50°C.

Indoor Unit Display:

The indoor unit features an LED display with indicators for:

  • TIMER: Lights up during Timer operation.
  • SLEEP: Indicates SLEEP mode.
  • Temperature display / Error code (88): Shows the set temperature or malfunction codes.

Emergency Function:

In case the remote controller malfunctions, an emergency button on the indoor unit can be used:

  1. One press: Initiates forced COOLING operation.
  2. Two presses (within 3 seconds): Initiates forced HEATING operation.
  3. Press again: Switches off the unit. After 30 minutes in forced operation, the unit automatically switches to 23°C cooling mode with auto fan speed.

Operating Modes:

  • COOLING Mode: Cools the room and reduces air humidity. Temperature and fan speed can be adjusted.
  • HEATING Mode: Heats the room. Temperature and fan speed can be adjusted. During heating, the appliance may activate a defrost cycle (2-10 minutes) to clean frost from the condenser.
  • FAN Mode: Operates in ventilation only. Fan speed can be set to low, medium, high, or auto.
  • DRY Mode: Reduces air humidity for comfort. Activates alternating cooling cycles and air fan automatically.
  • FEEL Mode (Automatic): Automatically sets fan speed and temperature based on the room temperature (sensed by the indoor unit).
    • < 20°C: Auto temp 23°C (Heating/Fan)
    • 20°C~26°C: DRY, Auto temp 18°C
    • 26°C: COOL, Auto temp 23°C

  • SLEEP Mode: Automatically adjusts temperature for comfortable sleep. In cooling/dry mode, temperature rises by 1°C every 60 minutes for a total rise of 2°C over 2 hours. In heating mode, temperature gradually decreases by 2°C over 2 hours. The unit switches off automatically after 10 hours.

Airflow Control:

The air outlet direction is motorized for up and down movement (flaps) and can be manually adjusted for left and right movement (vertical deflectors). Some models may have motorized vertical deflectors. For optimal cooling, flaps should be horizontal; for heating, they should be downward. Manual adjustment of deflectors should only be done when the appliance is switched off to prevent damage.

Safety Precautions:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • Immediately turn off and disconnect power if abnormal situations (e.g., burning smell) occur.
  • Do not insert objects into air inlet/outlet.
  • Avoid using flammable sprays near the unit.
  • Do not operate near combustible gases or in wet rooms.
  • Avoid prolonged direct exposure to cool air.
  • Supervise children around the unit.
  • Ensure proper ventilation if used with other heating devices.
  • Turn off and unplug the unit during storms or extended periods of non-use.
  • Ensure proper water condensation drainage.
  • Do not operate with wet hands.
  • Do not climb or place objects on the outdoor unit.
  • Avoid long periods of operation with open doors/windows or high humidity.

Electrical Warnings:

  • Use only the specified power cord; replace if damaged.
  • Keep power plug clean.
  • Unplug by holding the plug, not the cord.
  • Do not modify power cord length or use extension cords.
  • Do not share electrical outlets with other appliances.
  • Ensure proper grounding during installation.
  • Follow all wiring standards and the Installation Manual for electrical work.
