Overview

The Tefal Multicook & Grains appliance is a versatile multicooker designed for various cooking tasks, particularly for grains and multicooking functions. It features a user-friendly control panel with an LCD screen and multiple keys for menu selection, temperature/timer adjustments, and program control.

Function Description:

The multicooker offers a wide range of pre-set programs for both grain-based dishes and general multicooking. The "Nutrition Menu" is an automatic cooking mode specifically tailored for grains, allowing users to adapt the cooking mode for different food textures and serving sizes. This menu includes programs for white rice, brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa, lentils, beans, baby porridge, and a brown rice + green lentils combination. Each program offers options for different textures (Nutri+, Quick, Normal, Soft) and indicates approximate soaking and cooking times, as well as the number of persons it serves.

The "Multicook Menu" provides additional cooking functions such as Pilaf/Risotto, Steam, Slow Cook, Browning, Pasta, Bake, Soup, Bread Rising, Dessert, Cream Cheese, Yogurt, and Jam. These programs also offer automatic or manual settings for temperature and cooking time, with some functions allowing for delayed start.

Key features include:

  • Reheat Function: Designed to reheat cooked food. Users can adjust temperature (80°C or 100°C) and time.
  • Keep Warm Function: Automatically activates after cooking to maintain food temperature. It can also be manually selected. The appliance sounds a long beep when this function starts.
  • Delayed Start Function: Allows users to set a desired preset time for cooking to begin later. This time includes the actual cooking duration.

The temperature range for manual multicooking programs varies, with some programs like "Browning" reaching up to 160°C and "Bread Rising" operating at lower temperatures like 40°C. Cooking times also vary significantly depending on the program, from a few minutes for "Pasta" to several hours for "Yogurt."

Usage Features:

Before first use, the appliance and its accessories should be unpacked and cleaned thoroughly. The inner lid and pressure valve are removable for cleaning. All elements must be correctly reassembled, and the power cord connected before use.

When operating, ensure the cooking bowl is correctly placed inside the appliance and the inner lid is properly positioned and closed with a "click." The appliance is intended for indoor use only. Users should avoid touching the heating element when the product is plugged in or after cooking, and gloves are recommended when handling the hot bowl and baskets.

The maximum quantity of water and ingredients should not exceed the "MAX" mark inside the bowl. The steam vents should not be blocked during cooking. Metal utensils should not be used in the bowl to avoid damaging its surface. The dew collector must be emptied after each cooking. Deep frying is prohibited with this appliance.

For grain cooking, the appliance guides the user through steps such as selecting the program, desired texture, number of servings, adding grains, and adding water. Pictograms on the LCD screen indicate each step. For some programs like "Beans," a soaking phase is included, and users are prompted to drain the soaking water before proceeding to cooking.

For multicooking programs, users can adjust time and, for some functions, temperature. The appliance provides visual and auditory signals to indicate the start and end of cooking, as well as transitions between phases (e.g., water boiling for pasta).

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the multicooker.

  • General Cleaning: Ensure the multicooker is unplugged and completely cooled before cleaning. It is strongly advised to clean the appliance with a sponge after each use.
  • Dishwasher Safe Parts: The bowl, inner lid, cup, and rice/soup spoons are dishwasher safe.
  • Bowl and Steam Basket: Avoid using scouring powders or metal sponges. If food sticks to the bottom, water can be added to the bowl to soak before washing. Dry the bowl carefully. The bowl, steam basket, soaking basket, and inner lid should be cleaned with warm water and washing-up liquid.
  • Bowl Care: Do not cut food directly in the bowl to preserve its quality. Always place the bowl back into the multicooker after use. Use the provided spatula or a wooden spoon to avoid damaging the bowl surface. Do not pour vinegar into the bowl to prevent corrosion. Discoloration of the bowl surface after initial or multiple uses is normal and safe, caused by steam and water.
  • Micro Pressure Valve: Remove the valve from the lid, open it by rotating in the "open" direction, wipe it dry after cleaning, and place it back in the lid.
  • Other Parts: Clean the exterior of the multicooker, the inside of the lid, and the cord with a damp cloth and wipe dry. Do not use abrasive products. Avoid using water to clean the interior of the appliance body, as this could damage the heat sensor.

Troubleshooting:

The manual includes a technical troubleshooting guide for common issues such as:

  • No heating or indicator lamps off: Check power connection.
  • Steam leakage: Check lid closure, micro pressure valve positioning, and gasket condition.
  • Rice half-cooked or overcooked: Adjust water quantity.
  • Automatic warm-keeping failure: May indicate insufficient simmering or sensor issues.
  • Error codes (E0, E1, E3): Refer to the guide for sensor-related problems or missing/empty bowl.

If the inner bowl is deformed, it should be replaced by an authorized service center. The appliance contains recyclable materials and should be disposed of at a local civic waste collection point.
