The output
of
the

504
is

esigned
to
operate
as

voltage
source
working
into

Ω
load
.
At
h
igher
frequencies,
an
unterminated
or
improperly terminated
output
will
cause
excessive
aberrations
on
the output
waveform
(see
Impe
d
ance
M
atching d
iscussion)
.
L
oads
less
than 50
Ω
will
re
d
uce
the
waveform
amplitude
.
E
xcessive
distortion
or
aberrations,
due
to
improper
termination,
are
less
noticeable
at
the
lower
frequencies
(especially
with
sine
and
triangle
waveforms)
.
To
ensure
waveform
p
urity,
observe
the
following
precautions
:

U
se
good
quality
50
Ω
coaxial
cables
and
connec-
tors
.

.
M
ake
all
connections
tight
and
as
short
as
possible
.
3
.
Use
good
q
uality
attenuators
if it
is
necessary
to
reduce
waveform
am
p
litude
applied
to
sensitive
circuits
.

.
Use
terminations
or
impe
d
ance-matching
devices
to
avoid
reflections
when
using long cable
(6
feet
or
more)
.

.
E
nsure
that
attenuators,
terminations,
etc
.,
h
ave
adequate
p
ower
h
andling
capabilities
for
the output
waveform
.
If
there
is
α do
voltage
across the
output
loa
d
,
use
α
coupling
capacitor
in
series with
t
he
load
.
The
time
constant
of
the coupling
capacitor
and
load
mustbe
long
enough
to
maintain
p
ulse flatness
.
If
t
he
F
G
504
is
used
in
ear
ly
mo
d
els
of
t
h
e
TM
500
Series
P
ower
M
o
d
ules,
ripple
on
t
he
out
p
ut
wave-
form
can
be
excessive
in
some
cases
.
Th
e
ripple
r
esults
from
P
ower
M
odule
transformer
p
hasing
t
hat
is
incompatible
with
F
G
504
operation
;
however,
t
he
p
r
oblem
is
easily
cured
.
